I APproved~ -r: #/~ Mayor Seal Beach, California February 19, 1951 The City -Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. Meeting was called to order with salute to the Flag. Absent: Mayor Shufelt Councilmen, Webster, Leonard, Bowers Councilman, Granger I Present: The minutes of regular meeting of February 5, and ad- journed regular me~ting of February 6, were read and approved on Mayor's motion. COMMUNICATIONS: Red Cross Letter of the American Legion, making applica~ion to lease the Beach Parking lots received and filed! Letter of Mabel C. Felts, Chai!man Red Cross fund drive, asking Council for contribution. It was moved by W~bster, second by Bowers that the request be denied and Clerk to notify Mrs. Felts of Council1s position. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Webster, Leonard, Bowers, Shufelt None Granger I Bowler Fence Motion Carried. Letter of Mrs. John D. Bowler, requesting a six inch height extension to a patio wall at In5 Ocean Avenue. It was moved by Leonard, second by Webster that request be granted and Building Inspector issue said permit. Letter of Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, Shol'elin.e Development Oommittee, on removal of Ocean Avenue Bridge and letter mailed in Glendale protesting bridge removal, signed "Seal Beach Property Owner", received and filed. Letter of Purchasing Agent recommending that order for 4" transite pipe for Trailer Park water line be delayed until former ca,rload order of said pipe, thus effecting , , . considerable saving in price. The Council concurred with this suggestion. Also letter making recommendation on tire pur- chases for the load packer. Report of City Treasurer for month of January was read. It was moved by Bowers, second by Webster that reports be re- ceived and filed. Mot ion carried. Demands numbering 1~4!S to 1294 inclusive, amounting to &6,482.74 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented. It was moved by Bowers, second by Webster that bills be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for same. AYES: liDES: ABSENT: Webster, Leonard, Bowers, Shufelt None Granger Motion carried. It was moved by Bowers, second by Leonard that the Street Superintendent post notice to destroy weeds and date of March 19th at 7:00 O'clock P. M. as time set for hearing. AYES: ~TOES : ABSENT: Webster, Leonard, Bowers; Shufelt None Granger Planning COlnmission recommending name of Old Coast High- way, starting at San'Gabriel Flood Control and cantinuing to Highway 101 be given the name of 9o~sa Avenue. It was moved by Bowers, second by Leonard that recommendation be approved. AYES: NOES: ABSE!~T : Webster, Leonard, Bowers, Shufelt None Granger Motion carried. Planning Commission recommending that all that portion of Lot C I not already in heavy industry zone, lying South and West of Pacific Electric Railway right-of-way, and lsnd East Naples Land Company, occupied by Seal Seaeh Trailer Park, and 116 Zoning Charge Land Use Ord. Hot Mix Marine Avenue Woolley Erosion and Pump Woolley Drain Plans strip South of said Park owned by said <<mpany be placed in the business zone in the New Land Use Ordinance. It.was moved by Bowers, second by Leonard that recommendation be accepted. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Webster, None Granger Leonard, Bowers, Shufelt Motion carried. It was moved by Webster, second by Bowers that Section 10-B of Land Use Ordinance be made to read $25.00 instead of $15.00, as the price to be charged applicants for change of zoning. It was moved by Webster, second by Bowers that date of March l~th at 7:30 P. M. be time set for public he~ring on such ordinance and Clerk be directed to publish necessary legal notice of hearing. Engineer Woolley reported by letter on Beach Erosion problem. Garbage disposal and Sa~dT.rouble being encountered, in new Water Well No.1. It was moved by Webster, second by Bowers that Engineer Woolley proceed with making adjustment on water pump as per recommendation. It was moved by Webster, second by Bowers that Engineer Woolley be directed to prepare survey on water drainage problem diScussed with Mr. Harris & Holman of the State Highway Dept. 117 for submission to said Highway Department. I It was moved by Bowers, second by Webster that a general coverage fidelity bond be underwritten on all City 'employees Employees Bond with a minimum of $2,500.00 as outlined in letter of U. S. Second Street Bridge Condition of the Old Coast Highway, Second Street Bridge was discussed. Council dir~cted that the Clerk write the Orange County Board of Supervisors to inquire if said body would cooperate with Los Angeles County in working out some program of reconditioning said structure.
