June 18, 1951 , The City 60uncil of the City of Seal Beach mat in r.egular session at 8:00 P. M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. -Meeting was called to order with salute to the Flag. Present: Mayor Shufelt Councilmen, Bowen, Leonard, Webster Councilmen, Bowers. The minutes of regular meeting of June q.th were read and approved on Mayor's motion. Absent: Frank Currie, Engineer employed for the construction of the new proposed sewer plant. was present and explained difficulties encountered in obtaining acceptable bids for its construction. Karl Teget, contractor was also present and Letter 'or Betty Sylvia, Secretary Woman's Club, asking ror.use of Sun Room, July 12, ror a Hamburger Fry referred to City Clerk to obtain more complete information as to proposed method of operation. It was moved by ~eonard, second by Bowen that licenses and certificate be issued as requested and Police Chief directed to see that Cabs are identified as reqlired by Ordinance No. ~OO. Los Angeles Flood Control District proposal for permit to depos~t sand to be removed from the San Gabriel river bed on the West beach. Referred to City Attorney to communicate with said above mentioned District. Resolution No. 742 was presented and the subject matter reviewed by theCity Attorney; our beach eros~on problem. Absent; The first order of business was the report of Currie Engineering Co., engineers engaged for construction of the additional capacity for the sewage disposal plant. Mr. Currie reported that Karl Teget, Contractor. Costa Mesa. consented to a Change order of $8.701.00 on his original bid of $176.822.00; Mr. T.eget being the low bidder at the ~1me of opening of bids, June 4th. It was moved by Bowers, second by Webster that on the recommendations of Engineer, Currie, the bid of Karl Teget in the sum of $176~822.00 be accepted.
