APprovedP:'~ .(' ~:/~ ayor ATTEST: Seal Beach, California July 2, 1951 The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular session at 8:00 P. M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. Meeting was called to order with salute to the Flag. Present: Mayor Shufelt Councilmen, Bowers, Bowen, Leonard, Webster Councilmen, None Minutes of regular meeting of June 18th were read and approved on Mayor's motion. Absent; The first order of business was the report of Currie Engineering Co., engineers engaged for construction of the additional capacity for the sewage disposal plant. Mr. Currie reported that Karl Teget, Contractor. Costa Mesa. consented to a Change order of $8.701.00 on his original bid of $176.822.00; Mr. T.eget being the low bidder at the ~1me of opening of bids, June 4th. It was moved by Bowers, second by Webster that on the recommendations of Engineer, Currie, the bid of Karl Teget in the sum of $176~822.00 be accepted. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Bowers, Bowen, Leonard, Webster, Shufelt None None Motion carried. It was moved by Bowen, second by Bowers that the City Attorney be directed and authorized to prepare a contract agreement, incorporating in said agreement the Change Order of $8,701.00, and authorizing the Mayor to sign said agree- ment between the City and contractor, Karl Teget in the sum of $176,822.00. Letter of Mrs. Martha S. Hooker of the faculty of the I Bible Instltua, Los Angeles, asking permission to conduct two meetings - Beach Auto. Letter of Lescher & Stockon asking permission for the L. A. Examiner to display an automobile to be awarded as a fishing prize; same to be placed near the pier entrance. It was moved by Leonard, second by Bowen that request be granted, and City Attorney so inform by letter the interested parties. . Letter of Pacific Union Metal Co. making proposal for rental of their equipment for removal of Concrete light standards on M&n Street. Received and Filed. I. Report for the month of June of Police Chief, City Judge, and Building Inspector were read. It was moved by . Webster, second by Bowen that reports be received and filed. Motion carried. I Ord. No.' 408 151 Demands numbering 1 to 79 inclusive, amounting to 9:l.-,1'/ $7,3~7~~ as approved by the Finance Committee were presented. Ordinance No. 408 was presented and read - adopting 1951 National Electrical Code. It was moved by Webster, second by Bowers that Ordinance No. 408 be adopted. I No. 743 Salaries on 15th Street complained of by Mrs. Melberger. It was moved by Bowen, second by Leonard that a man and woman be employed as attendants for the pier rest rooms not to exceed 8 hours daily at a rate of $1.00 per hour each. It was moved by Webster. second by Bowers that the Police Chief confer with City Attorney on draW[ng of an Ordinance regulating illegal automobile parking. Resolution' No. 743 was presented; revision of Salary and Wage scale and defining duties to be performed by the various departments. It was moved by Webster, second.by Bowen that Reso- lution No. 743 be adopted and salary and wage scale become effect- ive as of July 1, 1951. Letter of the Junior Womens Club asking Council's Jr.WOll1en Icecream permission to hold ice cream social near entrance to the pier. It was moved by Webster, second by Bowen that request be denied on account of property deed restrictions and City Attorney to Pier wri te the Club explaining the reason for refusal. Letter from the Fire Department announcing the Knighton - election of W. S. Knighton as Fire Chief for the next fiscal I:l. I Fire of the Fire Chief for last yea:r and a report year, of alarms Chief responded to and amount of damage caused by fires. It was moved by Leonard, second by Webster that the election of W. S.
