M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. Meeting was called to order with salute to the Flag. COMMUNICATIONS: Letter of Chamber of ~ommerce requesting permission to conduct a pUblic free aance at the pier entrance. It was moved by Bowen, second by Leonard that request be granted with C of C I Lights C of C Xmas Lights Uhl 155 the understanding that each gathering be supervised by responsible adults. Motion carried Letter of the Chamber of Commerce extending congrat- ulations and expressing thanks to the Council for the new Main Street lighting system. Received and filed. Letter of the Chamber of Commerce requesting a meeting with the City Council to work out plans for this year's Christmas lighting program. Mayor announced that Wednesday, the 8th at .7:00 P. M. would be the most convenient time, which time was agreed to by the Chamber members present. Letter of Milton M. Uhl suggesting removal of beach stands after the close of the season. Referred to the umbrella umbrella Stands Beach & Beach Fire iOd Norton Park Committee. Letter of Max Bridges asking permission to sell fire- wood to the Beach fire ring patrons. It was moved by Leonard, second by Bowen that permission be granted without the necessity of making application for business license. Motion carried. Letter of Philip Norton, Inc. asking that a "no parking" sign be placed at their location - 710 Ocean Ave., referred to Sign Parking Maintenance Department to place such sign at this location. Letter of Division of Highways announcing deleting from the State Highway System that portion of Bolsa Ave. East . of Main Street referred to City Attorney. Letter of Currie Engineering Company asking Council to make written request for engineering supervision of Sewage Plant now under construction, as provided, under section IV of Original Contract dated February 15th, 1946. The Budget Estimate as prepared by Diehl & Co., AUditors, fixing a Tax Rate-of $1.30 for the Fiscal Year 1951-52 was pre- sented by Harold Franks. The payment of this amount less 10% retention was approved for payment by Currie Engineering.
