The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in
regular session at.7:30 P. M. and was called to order by Mayor
Shufelt with salute to the Flag.

COMMUNICATIONS:
Letter of Chamber of Commerce, asking Council's per-
mission to attach 12 foot live Christmas trees and decorations
to special street poles recently erected by the City. It was
moved by Leonard, second by Bowen that request be granted.

Letter of Enice B. Kupfer protes~ing City's re~oval of
weeds from her lots and making a charge for same. Coun~il directed

City Attorney to c ommunic ate wi th complainant.
Letter of Clark Pettingill, 205 5th Street asking for
removal of Elm trees from parking on Central Avenue adjoining his
property and a palm tree in his front yard, for which he was willing
to pay the charges. It was moved by Webster, second by Leonard
that the matter be referred to the Maintenance Foreman.
A letter was presented from the Associated Telephone
Company asking permit to ma<e street excavations for the purpose
of setting poles~ It was moved by Leonard, second by Bowen that
application be denied and City Attorney to communicate with Company
explainbng the circumstances.

Building Departments were read. It was moved by Leonard, second
by Webster that reports be received and filed.

Ordinance No. 414 was presented for its second reading,
prohibiting dancing in cafes where alcoholic beverages are
dispensed. It was moved by Bowen, second by Webster to waive
the reading of Ordinance No. 414.

No. 414 be deemed as having had its second and final reading and
be adopted.

erosion problem.
It was moved by Leonard, second by Webster that the
City purchase a Christmas tree and decorat ions to cost not in
excess of $100.00. Said tree to be placed on City lots opposite
City Hall.

Council directed City Attorney to investigate surround-
ing communities I ordinances governing the sale of BB guns and
ammunition, and to prepare an Ordinance covering such sale and
possession.
