Present: Absent: Mayor Shufelt Councilmen, Webster, Leonard, Lawhead, Bowen Counci~en, None The minutes of re,gular meeting of' J'anu~~y 7 were read I and approved on Mayor's motion. COMMUNICATIONS I Letter of the' Chamber of C011llllerce thanking Council for their cooperation and participation in the erection,of the new stan~ds on Main Street for the purpose of mount~ of Christmas .... standards decorations received and filed. Letter of Orange County League of Cities announcing date League dinner r J87 , of monthly' dinner meeting. Received and tiled. Shoreline Letter ot Shoreline Planning AssocIation asking Council Planning to subscribe tor membership received and tiled. 'Letter and Agreement of Army Engineers asking to be re- Cable lie~ed of responsibility of Cable line crossing Ocean Ave. bridge Line over at Alamitos Bay. Reports for the month of December,' of City Treasurer and Clerk were presented. It was moved by Leonard, ,second by Webster that reports be received and filed. ,~ Motion carried. Demands numbering 1027 to 1081 amounting to 16,0$4.24 as approved by the Finll1ce Committee were presented. Ordinance No. 417 was presented and read, prohibiting jumping or diving trom the Municipal Pier., It wlis moved by Leonard, second by LaWhead that Ordinance No. 4l7.be deemed as having had its second and final reading and,be adopted. Foremen of the various department. stated that no . requests for salary increases would be made by them for any of . , their employees before the preParation of the 19$2-$3 budget. Woman's Club Garden of Allah Condition of debris, on, the ,beach, washed..down ,the San Gabriel River bed by the recent flood was ~iscussed. Council suggested City Attorney write the ,Los Angeles Flood Controll District asking their cooperation in cleaning up the beach. It was moved by Leonard, second by B~wen that the Mayor Company for I current year's supply of gasoline and lubricants. COMMUNICATIONS: I Letter of the Senior Woman's Club making request for re-arrangement of dishes and utensils in the Auditorium Kitchen was referred to the Building CustOdian, Lee Howard, to work out '--... satisfactory arrangements. Letter of Mrs. Viola Prescott making request for license and permit to re-establish dancing in connection with Garden of Allah operation referred to the Police Committee and Police Chief to make a report on same at next regular meeting.
