Gabriel River bed by the recent flood was ~iscussed. Council
suggested City Attorney write the ,Los Angeles Flood Controll
District asking their cooperation in cleaning up the beach.

The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in
regular session at 7:30 P. M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding.
Meeting was called to order with.salute to the Flag.

The minutes of special meeting on Annexation and regular
meeting of January 21st were read and approved on Mayor1s motion.
COMMUNICATIONS:

Letter of the Senior Woman's Club making request for
re-arrangement of dishes and utensils in the Auditorium Kitchen
was referred to the Building CustOdian, Lee Howard, to work out

satisfactory arrangements.
Letter of Mrs. Viola Prescott making request for license
and permit to re-establish dancing in connection with Garden of
Allah operation referred to the Police Committee and Police Chief
to make a report on same at next regular meeting.

Taxicab
Letter of the Beneficial Fire,& Casualty Company stating they
Insurance were withdrawing from the Automobile Public Liability business and
stating they were without cause, cancelling policy of the Red Top
Cab Company. Letters pertaining to same handed to City Attorney.
Report for the month of January o~ Police Chief, City
Judge, Water, Tax and Building Departments were read. It was moved
II by Leonard, second by Bowen that reports be received and filed.

Demands numbering 1082 to 1175 inclusive amounting to

$15,288.20 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented.
It was moved by Lawhead, second by Bowen that bills be allowed
and Warrants drawn on the Treasury for same.

City Attorney reported receiving letter from Hannah and
Norton regarding payment to Hellman Estate for sewer plant land. It
was moved by Bowen, second by Leonard that the City Attorney be
authorized to enter into a stipulation making an offer of $6,000.00
in full settlement of said property payable August 1, 1952.

City Attorney reported on interview., with Attorney Clock
property representing the Hellman property within. the City limits stating
for sub- . that the owners no doubt would be willing to, discuss with City
dividing offioials, a proposal to sell a portion of the property for sub-
division purposes.

Erosion ~eeting be called for Tuesday, February 19th at 7:30 P. M. for the
meeting purpose of discussing the beach erosion problem and Clerk to notify
all Civic bodies asking them to appoint a committee to participate
in the discussion.
