It was moved by Webster, second 'by teonard that street
Superintendent be directed to post weed notices and March 3rd, date
of next regular meeting, be time set for hearing of protests.
Motion carried.
Police Chief reported he checked up on premises of Garden
of Allah and found everything to be satisractory. Councilman Leonard
stated he and Councilman Bowen made an inspection and interviewed
Mrs. Prescott, administratrix and operator of the business, and
recommended that request for license of Cafe with dancing be

reconsidered.
It was moved by Webster, second by Lawhead that trans-
portation and expense be allowed three City officials for trip to
San Francisco to interview officials and principals of the Hellman
Estate regarding making a portion of their property available for
subdivision.

session at 7:30 P.M. and was called to order by Mayor Shufelt with
salute to the Flag.

Letter of Mrs. T. C. Murray asking permission to rent
a lower apartment converted from a garage connected with their ma~n
building at 1704 Landing Ave. It was moved by Webster, second by
Bowen that request be granted.

Property
Request by the United Veterans Council to have the
present wood fence around the ~emorial plaque in the City Park
replaced with an iron post and chain type fence. It was moved
by Leonard, second by Bowen to okay the request and direct the
foreman in charge to proceed with same.

Supervisors Association proposal of a 4% Sales Tax. Received and
filed.

Reports for the month of February of Police Chief, City
Judge, Water, Tax & Building Departments were Dead. It was moved
by Leonard, second by Lawhead that reports be received and filed.
Motion carried.
Demands n1uubering 1234 to 1317 inclusive amounting to
$20,818.66 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented.
It was moved by Webster, second by Bowen that bills be allowed and
warrants drawn on the Treasury for same.

sented and read in full. It was moved by Bowen, second by Lawhead
that Ordinance No. 419 be adopted as an emergency measure.

of polling places and appointing election officers for General

Attorney Williams reported that the Hellman principals
had accepted and signed the stipulation agreement to accept the sum
of $6,000.00 in full paY!'1ent for property acquired by the City for
expansion of Sewage Disposal Plant. Above sum payable Au~ust 1, 1952
in full. It was moved by Bowen, second by Webster that payment
ror said property be authorized and warrant draloJn on Treasury." _

The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in
regular session ~t 7:30 P. M. and was called to order by Mayor
Shufelt with salute to the Flag.

The minutes of regular meeting of March 3 were read and
after addition of date of August 1, 1952 for payment of land ac-
quired for Sewer Plant expansion, minutes were approved on Mayor1s
motion.
Petition protesting amnstruction of building for cabinet
shop on lot 61, Block 212 at 13th Street and Highway 101 was pre-
sented. After considerable discussion, matter was referred to City
Attorney for legal opinion on zoning to be rendered at ne~regular
meeting.
It was moved by Webster, second by Bowen that no more
building permits be issued for Commercial structures until such
time as opinion was given by the City Attorney on the present
cabinet shop controversy~
