M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. Meeting was called to order with salute to the Ylag. Present, Nayor Shu(elt Councilmen Bowen, Lawhead, Leonard Councilman, Webster Absent, The minutes of regular meeting of April 7th and adjourned regular meeting of April 15th were read and approved on Mayor's mtn. COMMUNICATIONS: Letter of Huntington Beach 4th of July Celebration Committee inviting the Council to participate in the parade by entering a July 4 float in the name of Seal Beach. Matter held in abeyance for fut- ther study and a letter written thanking them for the invitation. Division of Highways statement giving approximate amount Hy. It was moved by Bowen, second by Lawhead that the sum of $4,000. be budget at this time for general street maintenance, the balance to accumulate. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Bowen, Lawhead, Leonard, Shufelt None We.bster f1otion carried Pinancial report o~ City Treasurer for the month of April was presented. It w~s moved by Leonard, second by Bowen that report be receLved and ~iled. Motion carried Demands numbering 1483 to 1556 inclusive amounting to $7,567.79 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented. It was moved by Bowen, second by Leonard that bills be allowed and warrants drawn on Treasury for same. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Bowen, Lawhead, Leonard, Shutelt None Webster Motion carried City Attorney gave as his legal opinion that City taxes on recently acquired property by the Seal Beach Elementry School Board should be Tax exempt. It was moved by Bowen, second by Leonard that the City Attorney be directed to prepare a resolution authorizing the assessor to delete said property from the City assessment roll. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Bowen, Lawhead, Leonard, Shutelt None Webster r.1otion carried Mr. Lewis who holds a recinded bUilding permit for the con- struction of a cabinet shop building in the vicinity of 13th Street 204 Cabi- net Shop Memor- ial Hosp. COWlty Fair Drain- age Calvo and the Highway was present with his attorney Milton Silverberg who went into considerable explamation of Mr. Lewis'es side of the matter. Council took no further action on the contraversary. Letter of President Hoag ~Iemorial Hospital, Nel"port Beach asking the Mayor to issue a proclimat~on declaring the week May lIth to 18th "Hospital Week". It was moved by Leonard, 2nd by Bowen that the Mayor issue such proclamation. Hotion carried 1 Letter of the Orange COWlty Agricultural Association asking that the City of Seal Beach enter an exhibit in the 1952 Pair to be held August 13th to 17th. Matter held in abeyance for consideration and study at time of adoption of budget. It was moved by Leonard, second by Lawhe~d that Pearl Kennedy be paid salary to and including April 30th and be granted vacation pay to May 15th 1952. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Bowen, Lawhead, Leonard, Shufelt None Webster ~Iotion carrIed It was mQved by Leonard, second by Bowen that Paul Calvo make a survey of needed drainage in various sections of the City 9.nd furnish the COl1ncil with a report and estimate of costs some I time before the making up of 1952 - 53 budget.
