M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. called to order with salute to the Flag. Meeting was 1 Present, Councilmen, Webster, Leonard, Lawhead, Bowen Mayor, Shufelt Absent, Councilmen, None The minutos of regular meeting of April 2l, were read and after correction made in section on school property taxes authorizing AM cancellation of present taxes. On motion by Bowen; second by Leon ard Legion to direct the City Attorney to prepare a resolution directing the Chairs City ~ssessor to cancel present current taxes and delete from the tax roll the recently acquired school property. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Webster, Leonard, tawhead, Bowen, Shufelt None None Minutes were approved on Mayors motion. COMMUNICATIONS: I Letter of the American Legion Post No. 300 asking permis- sion to borrow chairs from the Auditorium for use at the Memorial Day AM services in the City Park and extending an invitation to the Council Legio~o participate at the services. Bowman, Attorney explaining cost increases i~process1ng of tax delinquent properties and asking permission to have the Court appoint an Attorney to act as administrator in certain Lots 2CG Garden G/UIES where same is found to be necessary. It was moved by Leonard, 2nd by.Bowen that Mr. Bowman be notified that Council grants his re- quest for appointment of Admisistrator when found necessary and to proceed as explained in his letter dated April 26. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Webster, Leonard, Lawhead, Bowen, Shufelt None None Motion carried Letter of Philip Norton Inc. calling attention to the con- dition of the ditch fronting their property and office on Bolsa Ave. It was moved by Leonard, second by Bowen that if they were willing to co-operate dn the same basis as the Lumber & Supply Co. were the City would have the work done by City Labor. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Webster, Leonard, Lawhead, Bowen, Shufelt None None Motion carried Letter of the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce suggesting that the City have constructed in the Park suitable quarters for the 0.1 display of live seals, same was accompanied by an estimate of costs and a petition carrying the names of some 60 business people Held over for study and consideration at time of making up of annual budget. Report for the month of April of Pol'ce Chief, City Judge, Water, ~ax and Building Dep~rtments were read. It was moved by Bowen, second by Leonard that reports be received and filed. Motion carried 1 207 Demands numbering 1571 to 1672 inclusive amounting to $25,079.46 as approved by the Finance Com~ittee were presented. City Attorney presented bill by the City of Long Beach in the amount of $818.75 same being 50 % of the cost of repairs on the Second Street, Bolsa Avenue bridge crossing the San Gabriel Plood control. It was moved by Bowen, second by Webster that demands be approved togather with amount due City of Long Beach for bridge repair, and warrants drawn on the Treasury for same. It was moved by Bowen, second by Leonard that Ordinance No. 422 be deemed as having hQd its first reading and sent to its second reading and adoption. Hotion carried It was moved by Lawhead, second by Bowen that the purchasing agent purchase 200 feet of 2" rought iron pipe at 62.3 ~ per foot plus sales tax. Hotion carried Charles Sprouse reported that one of his crew ~. B.
