The City Council of the City of Seal Eeach met in regular
session at 8;00 P.~. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. l"leeting was
called to order with salute to the Flag.

Absent: Councilmen: None
The minutes of regular meeting of May 5th were read and ap~
proved on Mayor's motion.
The first order of business was the reading of an application
for permit and business license under. Ordinance No. 407 by the
W.~W.
W. & W. Co. A petition was presented by Horace W. Losch, stating
Co.
same carried 378 names protesting the issuance of said license.
Also a letter by employees of the Airport Club, stating they had
57 sections to a petition carrying 877 signatures urging the
granting of said permit and license. Both s~des of the question of
license 1ssuance was presented by persons in the vast audience.

Council then recessed to study the matter. When reconvening Council
recommened holding in abeyance issuance of license for one week.
Mr. Robertson, operator of the Club at No.5 Coast Highway, explain-
ed he would be operating ille~ally. Thereupon C01IDCil made second
recess to further c')nside,r the problem. Upon reconvening 11ayoit'
announced present meeting would be adjourned until to-morrow night,

giving Council time in the intrim to fully consider the question,
and W.&W. Co., to make a revised application.
Petition by Pierce L. Butler and neighbors, complaining of

City Attorney presented letter from Pacific Electric Railway
Co., stating they would pay for the removal of weeds alon~ their

adjourned session at 8:00 P..M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. Meetin~ I
was called to order with salute to the Flag.

The first order of business was the further consideration of the
application of the W. &: W. Co. for license and permit. Horace \v. Losch
representing the opposition to granting of said license, made a short
address on the subject. Clerk read the new application in full.
Councilman Bowen motioned that license be J,ranted and in so gr~nting,
this ~ffirrial Body go on record as making it mandiatory that the
~ambling issue be put on the ballot for the GBneral Election to be
held November 4th., second by Webster.
