The City Counoil of the City of Seal Beach met in regular session at 8:00 P.M. and was called to order by Mayor Shufelt with salute to the Flag. .' Present: Mayor Shufelt CounoLlmen: Webster, Leonard, Lawhead,Bowen Absent: Councilmen: None .' . . The minutes of regular meeting of May 19th., and regu- lar adjourned meeting of.the 20th., were read and after correction of proposed lots purohase in Block 7 from four to six, minutes were approved on Mayor's motion. COMMUNICATIONS: Letter of the City Employees Association, thanking Council for establishing 5' day work week. Received and filed. Letter of the Community Methodist Church, complaining. of damage caused by trees in parkway on north s1de'of church property. Referred to Maintenance Department. Letter of B. C. Lewis making application for a permit to establish a cabinet shop in building at 327 Main Street. It was moved by Webster, second by Bowen that Mr. Lewis be granted Cabinet an non-conforming permit at this location, providing building Shop complies with building regulations. Miller, asking permit to build a stucco wall building on Hellman property adjoining the Seal Beach Miller Lumber and Supply Co., for the purpose of conducting a general Cabinet contracting and cabinet shop business at this location on Bolsa Shop ~I Duplex Petit- ion Avenue. It was moved by Bowen, second by Leonard that request be granted and Building Inspector issue said building permit. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: '. Received and filed. ! 214 Fire Works state Applications for the sale of fire works between July 1 and 5th., were received from Amerioan Legion and Lions Club, two loca- tions each with $200.00 check in both instances. Also application of J.A. Westmoreland and J. Richard pargmann, one location each, acoompanied with check for $lOO.OO ~ach. Also application from Seal Drug Co., J.E. Brockman and Cervice Variety Store for sale of such merchandise from the.1r stores. It was moved by Leonard, second by Lawhead that license fee 'for public service clubs be reduoed to $lOO.OO~or not exoeeding two locations and request of all appli- I cants be granted and permi ts issued. State Department of Public Health request that the City make application on forms furnished by them for the operation of Heal th . Cities water distribution system were presented. Resolution No. 760 Dept. Water Ord. 423, was introduced. Making application to State Board of Health for permit and authorizing Mayor to sign same. It was moved by Leonard, second by Bowen that reports be Received and Filed. Motion carried. Demands numbering l740 to 1834 inclusive, amounting to $lI,~~a.9~ as approved by the Finanoe Committee were presented. . Ordinance No. 423 was presented and read by title. Pro- viding for a Parking Lot fund. It was moved by Webster, second by Bowen to waive the reading of Ordinance No. 423. I Motion carried. Reso. il 761 Rest Rooms Stop Signs .1 215 It was moved by Webster, second by Bowen that Ordinance No. 423 be deemed as having had its 2nd. and final reading and be adopted. terms and conditions for purchase of' Ooean Avenue property and method of payment thereof, and directing Mayor and Clerk to slgn escrow agreement for purchase of said property. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Webster, Leonard, Lawhead, Bowen, Shufelt None None Motion carried It was moved by Bowen, second by Leonard that two atten- dants be employed to supervise and care for the beach rest rooms. Walter Scott, grocer at Ocean and Dolphin, handed in a petition contai~ing 76 signatures asking that stop signs be placed at Dolphin and Ocean Avenues. It was moved by Bowen, second by Ocean Leonard that the Police Chief be dIreoted to have installed at the Dolphin above location the proper stop signs with street markings, also an installation at Sth.
