Seal Beach, California September l5, 1952 The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular session at 8:00 P.M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. Meeting was called to order with salute to the Flag. Present: Mayor Shufelt Councilmen: Webster, Leonard, Lawhead, Bowen I Absent: " " None , The minutes of regular meeting of September 2, were read and approved on Mayor's motion. COMMUNICATIONS: Request of the Planning Commission to change day of regular monthly meeting from Tuesday to Wednesday. It was moved by Webster, second by Bowen that City Attorney be direct- ed to introduce an amendment to Ordinance No. 384, giving effect to this change of meeting date. Motion carried. Letter of the Woman's Club and Junior Woman's Club stating that their organization wished to go on record as a group definately opposed to gambling. Received and Filed. Letter of the Lions Club expressing their appreciat- ion for courtesies extended by the City in support of their recent Fish Fry. Received and Filed. Request of the Lions Club Henry G. Wilson, Secretary, asking permission to use the City lots at 8th Street and Central Avenue for a Halloween and Christmas party, and letter of Dr. Val E. Sneed, Program Chairman for both events, making similar re- quests. No. 780 pier lighting 'I , 237 Mayor announced that the City of Seal Beach had received from the Orange County Fair Association a premium award of 8th place in the displays and a check for $7S.00. Report of the City Treasurer and Clerk for the month of August was presented. It was moved by Bowen, second by Lawhead that reports be received and filed. Motion carried. Demands numbering 439 to SlO inclusive, amounting to $9,88S.88 as approved by the Finance Committee exclud~ng No. 492 payable to Seal Beach Lumber and Supply were presented. It was moved by Webster, second by Bowen that bills be allowed and war- rants drawn on the Treasury for same. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Webster, Leonard, Lawhead, Bowen, Shufelt None None Motion carried Resolution No. 779 was introduced. Cancelling taxes and deleting oertain City acquired property from the Tax Roll. It was moved by' Bowen, second by ~awhead that Resolution No. 779 be adopted. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Webster, Leonard, Lawhead, Bowen, Shufelt None None Motion carried. Resolution No. 780 was introduced, adjustment of payroll salaries. It was moved by Leonard, second by Bowen that Resolut- ion No. 780 be adopted. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Webster, Leonard, LaWhead, Bowen, Shufelt None None Motion carried. The matter of reconstructing the pier lighting system was discussed briefly. It was moved by Webster, second by Bowen that meeting be adjourned to Tuesday, October 7th at 7:30 P.M. at which time re- sults of Special Election of October 2 would be oanvassed and de- c'lared official. Bowman informing Council as to the progress being made on tax deeded lots. Received and Filed. Letter of Pacific Electric Railway stating that they were abandoning electric operations and requesting any fixtures the City may have on their poles be removed. Referred to City Atty. Petitions of r~sidents residing east of lOth Street and north of Electric Avenue, suggesting measures for traffic im- provements on those streets that would safeguard the lives of children who accidentlY runs iqto streets. while at play.
