The City Council of the. City of Seal Beach met in regu-
lar session at 7:)0 P. M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. Meet-
ing was called to order. with salute to the Flag.

The minutes of regular meeting of November l7th were
read and approved on Mayors motion.
C OMMUNICA TI ONS :
Letter of Mrs. R. Decuir requesting the removal of a
tree in front of her property at 143 6th Street. Referred to
Maintenence Department.
Letter of the Metropo1itan'Water District asking for a
statement as to the Councils intention on collection of taxes from
the City on this water district. Referred to ~ity Attorney to make
reply.

Letter of the California League of Cities outlining
proposed legislation on the cooking of garbage before it was fed
to hogs. Received and filed.
Request of Roy N. Thomas to take his vacation starting
December 16th. It was moved by Webster, second by Bowen that re-

qQest be granted.
Motion carried.
It was moved by Bowen, second by Lawhead that Paul Calvo
be appointed to succeed himself on the Mosqnito Control Board.
Motion carried.
Letter of the Womans Club thanking City employees for
co-operation and courtesies during Halloween par~y preparations.
Received and filed.
Letter of Mrs. Margaret C. Connell criticizing the
unfayorable publioity created in the Long Beach papers regarding
the childrens Halloween party. Received and filed.
Letter of Mrs. W. J. Bent complaining of damage done
to her rugs by baoking up of sewage caused by blocking of trlmk
line sewer and asking reimbursement in the amount of $25.00. It
was moved by Bowen, second by Lawhead that Mrs. Bent be reimbursed

in said amount. City Attorney to notify the insurance company
30, Block 209, Bay View Tract wished to redeem said property on
which there are $463.77 delinquent taxes and penalities, together
with $60.7l paid Holcomb and Diamond, process servers, charged ~
of damages.

gency purchase of transite water pipe. It was moved by Webster,
second by Bowen that Resolution No. 785 be adopted.

ion of Resolution No. 784 in memory of C. A. Miller. Received

Council directed City Attorney to prep~e resolution in
memory of John F. Burkhart, Planning Commission Secretary.
It was moved by Bowen, seoond by Lawhead that California
Artists Inc. request to break the I-1ain Street curb 01' Block 208
for the purpose of employees automebile parking on the south side
of their proposed bllilding be granted.

Frank O'Farrell, Long Beach realator appeared before the
Council stating that he represented a client interested in acquir-
ing the Hellman property for subdivision purposes, but he had no
concrete offer to submit at this time; however he'was'assured that
when he would submit his client and their proposal that they would I'
be given serious consideration. .
Meeting was adjourned on Mayors' motion.
