SUBJECT: LAMPSON AVENUE MEDIANS
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Council Member Miller is requesting that the City Council continue to delay the
award of construction on the Lampson Avenue medians to a future City Council
meeting; after an assessment of the impact of the Seal Beach Boulevard bridge
project.
BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS:
On June 11, 2012 the Lampson Avenue Median Project No. ST1108 was
presented to the City Council to award construction. During that meeting the City
Council directed staff to bring the item back to the City Council on July 23, 2012.
The Seal Beach Boulevard Bridge over the 1-405 freeway was anticipated to
begin construction in mid-July. The delay in awarding the Lampson Avenue
median construction was approved in an attempt to assess the traffic impact of
the Seal Beach Boulevard bridge construction on Lampson Avenue. The
construction of the Seal Beach Boulevard Bridge has been delayed again until
August.
The award of construction has been delayed at the request of Council Member
Miller until such time that the Seal Beach Boulevard bridge project begins and an
assessment of the construction impacts are known.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
There is no Environmental Impact related to this item.
LEGAL ANALYSIS:
No legal analysis is required for this item.
