Meeting , was called to order with salute to the Flag. Present: Mayor Shufelt Councilmen: Webster, Leonard, Lawhead, Bowen Absent: " " None I, The minutes of regular meeting of January 19th and adjourned regular meeting of the 20th were read and approved on Mayor's motion. COMMUNICATIONS: Rivers &: Harbors Letter of the Board of Engineers Rivers and Harbors acknowledging receipt of Resolution No. 790. Received and filed. Police , Letter of employees of Police Department, requesting a Emp. , five day work week. Referred to Chief Howard, requesting that he prepare a report charting the operations of his men and the' amount availab~ in the present bUdget for the employment ot Hanzlik additional neoessary personnel. Letter of Williard M. Hanzlik protesting action of the Council in not opening pier lighting bids in the meeting of January 20th. Received and filed. Report for the month of January of Police Chief, Tax, Water and Building Department was read. It was moved by ~,...~ 1 Leonard, second by Bowen that reports be received and filed. Demands numbering 1182 to 1266 inclusive, amounting to $7,958.13 as approved ?y the Finance Committee were pres- ented. It was moved by Webster, second by Bowen that bills be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treawurer for same. . AYES: Webster, Leonard, Lawhead, Bowen, Shufelt NOES: None ABSENT: None Motion carried. Ord. Ordinance No. 431 was presented and read. 1431 place for holding of Council meetings. It was moved second by Bowen that Ordinance No. 43l be deemed as Naming I by Webs ter, having had it's 1st. reading and sent to its tlnal reading and adoptJion. It was moved by Leonard, second by Bowen that opening of bids on pier lighting be held over awaiting a report and rec- ommendations from Mr. Simmons, Electrical Engineer, to be presented at meeting of February 17th. It was moved by Leonard, seoond by Bowen that Mr. Sim- mons be authorized to make a study and recommendation on the pier lighting job and be paid the sum of $300.00 for his services. Hiokman making application for position of City Assessor and Tax Collector was read by Mayor Shufelt. It was moved by Leonard, second by Bowen that Mr. Hickman be appointed on a temporary basis as City Assessor and Tax Collector at a salary of $300.00 per month and to perform such duties as may be set forth by the City Council. It was moved by, Leonard, second by Bowen that a surety bond in the sum of tSOOO.OO be furnished by the office of the City Assessor and Tax Collector, the premium on same being paid by the City. It was moved by Leonard, second by Bowen that the three operators at the Sewer Plant be paid equal salaries, namely 275.00 per month as of February 1, 1953 AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Webster, Leonard, Lawhead, Bowen, Shufelt None None Motion carried. It was moved by Leonard, second by Bowen that City Attor- ney be directed to proceed with condemnation proceedings on the two lots in Block 7, Bay City Tract. Motion carried. It was moved by Leonard, second by Bowen to direct the Mayor and Clerk to execute supplimentary lease agreement between II the City and Lescher and Stockon for the Municipal Pier.
