The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regu- lar session at 8:00 P.M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. Meeting was called to order with salute to the Flag. Present: Mayor Shufelt Councilmen: Webster, Leonard, Lawhead, Bow~n Absent: II II None The minutes of regular meeting of April 7th were read and approved on Mayor's motion. -COMMUNICATIONS: Letter and application of Edward Doolittle for posi~ion of Building Inspector. Clerk was directed to inform Mr. Doolittle ,that Council would like to have him present at meeting on Monday April 27th at which time he would be granted an interview. Orange County League of Cities annolIDcing monthly league dinner at La Habra the evening of April 23rd. Letter of the Planning Commission recommending the denial of a permit to R. W. Lantz for moving of a building from Lots 1 & 2 Blk. 12 to Blk. 220, Tract 10. It was moved by Leonard, second by Lawhead that Planning Commission recommendation be upheld. Motion carried. Request of B. C. Lewis for return of building permit tees . ,in the sum of $11.50 paid on rec1nded permit for building, Blk. 212" Traot No. 10. On advise of City Attorney that fees paid into a City Treasurary could not be refunded by order of the Council. It was moved by Webster, second by Leonard that request be denied. Jordan, Secretary of State, acknow- ledgeing Resolution No. 805 and approving of the Hellman de-annex- ation. Received and filed. Invitation of Orange County Water District inviting City Officials on a tour of inspection of the Water Districts facilities. Received and filed. Letter of the Hoag Memorial Hospital, Newport Beaoh, re- questing that the Mayor issue a proclamation declaring the week of May lOth. as Nationa~ Hospital Week. It was moved by Bowen, second .by' Lawhead that the Mayor be so directed. Motion carried. z:' G Turlock Invocation Water Dis t. Agreement Gas Co. agreement Reso. 806 Sullivan beach clean Flack tree Letter from the City of Turlock stating that their City Council had adopted a Resolution providing for an Invocation asking for God's guidance before the opening of all Council meetings. Letter held in abeyanoe for future consideration. It was ~oved by Webster, second by Lawhead that the Mayor and Clerk be directed to sign agreement between the City and Orange County Waterworks District for the making and survey and gation of setting up said district. investi- I AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Webster, Leonard. Report, ot the City Treasurer and Clerk for the month of March Was presented. It was ~oved by Bowen, second by Leonard that reports be received and filed. Motion carried. Demands numbering l623 to l7l7 inclusiv~, amounting to $10,242.33 as approved by the Fina~ce Committee were presented. Resolution No. 806 was presented and read. Declaring official results of Special Municipal Election held April 14, 1953. It w~s moved by Webster, second by Bowen that Resolution No. 806 be adopted. AYES: .NOES: ABSENT: Webster, Leon~rd, Lawhead, Bowen, Shufelt None None Motion carried. It was moved by Vebstar, second by Bowen that F. J. Sulli- van be paid the sum of $300.00 monthly to handle .the job of keeping the beach clean~of debris and litter. It was moved by Leonard, second by Lawhead that Maintain- ! . , ence Department ;~ di~~~ted to remove the tree complained of by Mrs. Flack at 2ll 6th. Street. Motion carried. Life Guards I I I 'J"" 7 '" 4 It was ~oved by Lawhead, sec~nd by Webster to accept offer of the Long Beach Life Guard Department to instruct and screen our Life Guard personell at no cost to the City.
