The City Council of the City of Seal Beaoh met in regu-
lar session at 8:00 P.M. Meeting was called to order with salute
to the Flag.
Absent:
Mayor Shu1'el t
Present: Councilmen: Webster, Lawhead, Bowen, Leonard
The minutes of regular meeting of April 2lst. were read
and unanimously approved, no addenda being suggested.
Mayor Shufelt being absent, it was moved by Webster,
second by bowen that Councilman Leonard be appointed as presiding
officer to conduct the meeting.
COMMUNICATIONS:
Letter of J. H. Robertson and application for position
of Building Inspector. Received and filed.
Letter of William Norton requesting permit and liceRse
to sell ice cream products on the beach. Received and filed.
Letter 01' O. L. Finley, 615i Ocean Avenue, requesting
removal of palm tree in front of his property at 138 l3th Street,
and request of Louis WaBner and Jed Johnson for removal of palm
trees at 25l-253 and 257 6th Street. Referred to Maintenence Dept.
Letter of Mrs. I. L. DeLong, 148 13th Street, complaining
of incinerators obstructing entrance to her garage at above address
Referred to Fire Chief to explain to Mrs. DeLong that City has no
power to act in the matter.
Request of Frank L. Bowman, Attorney, asking Council for
permission to a.'point an attorney to represent Wlknown de1'endants
in court on the matter of clearing title in tax delinquent City
"
lots. It was moved by Bowen, second by Webster that request be
granted.

Clerk presented notice of the Division of Highways that
they would start conditioning of the highway shoulders about July lst.
Clerk further called attention to the matter of budgeting State
Gas TB!x funds for the coming year. Subject was re1'erl'ed to Clerk
and Street Maintenence Department to settle on an amount to be ~sed
on secondary streets, the balance to accumulate in the fund and

Reports for the month of April of Police Chief, Water,
Tax and Building Departments were read. It was moved by Webster,

second by Bowen that reports be received a nd filed.
Motion carried.
Demands numbering 1718 to l807 amounting to $8,695.12 II
as approved by the Finance Committee were presented. It was
moved by Lawhead, second by Bowen that bills be allowed and
warrants drawn on the Treasuary for same.

It was,moved by Webster, second by Bowen that a max~-
mum sum of $l,OOO.OO be approved for the purpose of sending Jack
Woolley to Qashington, D. C. for the purpose of securing Federal
aid on our beach erosion problem. Mr. Woolley to be paid at
the rate of $100.00 per day and expenses on the trip, he to render
the Council a statement as to all costs upon his return.

ing be adjourned to Tuesday, May 12th at 8:00 P. M.
