The City Council of the City of Seal Beach' met in regu-
adij.ourned
lar~session at 8:00 P. M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. Meeting
was called to order with salute to the Fl~g.

The first order of business was the reading of a letter
from Electric and Machinery Service Inc., stating that they no
doubt would be able to complete the Pier lighting job by the end of
this month. Heceivad and filed.
Reqllest of the United Veteran'sl COWlcil requesting per-
mission to .use the City Park, speakers platform and use of chairs
on the. occasion of Armed Forces Day, May 16th. Consent WaS at once
eorthcoming from all the Council members.
Letter of Mrs. Inez ~. De Long and Stella Carson, request-
ing removal of palm trees from .in front of their property in the
100 block on 13th street. Referred to the Maintenence Department.
LeLter of Mrs. Norma Pranter calling attention to the
unfavorable publicity given Seal Beach recently in the newspapers
and asking if steps could not be taken that the City's name be
taken by the public with a little more reverence. Received and filed.
Letter of Horace Losch asking the COWlcll to abide by the
~lshes of the people and not issue any license or permit to a local
orga~lzation to conduct games at No.5 Coast Highway. neceived and
filed.
A request sponsered by Seal Beach Post No. 300, American
Legion, was read in full, asking the COlmoil for a permit and
license \mder Section 8 of Ordinance 429, to conduct games at No.5
Coast Highway, be isslwd them for a period of ten months. Consid-
erable discussion from the opponents and proponents of the proposa~
enSiled. It was moved by Webs ter, second by Lawhead that reqllest
be denied.
