The City Council of the City of Seal Beach Met in ad- . journed regular ~essioij at 8:00 P.M. with Ma~~r Shufelt presiding. The meeting' was called to order with salute to the Flag.. Present: Mayor Shufelt CouncilMen: Bowem, Lawhead, Leonard, Webster, COMMUNICATIONS: Wm. A. Wagner, Atlas Scale Company requested a reduction in the license fee for the scale he has placed in Brock's Drug Store. The City Clerk was reqllested to investigate fees charged by other cities and report to the Council. The lettep from the United Citizens Committee, Mrs. Viola A. Mendoza, President, relative to beach concessions as a means of additional revenue was read. The Mayor stated that the matter would be discussed in the budget studies. Mendoza, President, suggesting a change in the method of hand- ling tax assessMents and collections was read., The COWlcil explained what necessary steps would have to be made and that the City would also have to accept the County assessed valuation. It was moved by Webster, seconded by Leonard that upon p'roper application a license be issued. ~ AYES: NOES: Bowen, Lawhead, Leonard, Webster, Shufelt None Motion carried. Demand No. 174 in the amount of $15,126.00 payable to Electric and l'lachinery Service Inc., as approved by the Finance Committee was presented. It was moved by' Webs'ter, seconded by Bowen that the demand be allowed and a warrant drawn on the Treasury for the same. The Clerks s ta tement certified that 345 registered voters had signed said petition and that the requisite number necessary was 359, therefore the petition was l~ short. Petition for the recall of Councilman Lew Webster, pur- porting to carry 368 signatures. The Clerks statement certified that '344 registered voters had signed said petition, ahd,t~at~the requisite number necessary was 359, ,therefore the petition was 15 short.
