Session at 8:00 o'clock P.M.

READING or CALL FOR SPECIAL MEETING.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a Special Meeting of the Oity
Council is called at the request of the Yayor for the purpose of
consideration and disoussion of the matter of purchase of part of
Lot 9, BlQck 1, Tract 125, and for any and all other matters which
may properly come before said Oouncil.
Meeting to be held on Monday, the 12th day of July, 1943, at
the hour of 8:00 01 clock P.M. in the Oounoil Chamber of the Oity
Hall Bullding.

On the matter of the proposed groin or rivetment at the East

end of Anaheim Bay Bridge to protect the Oity's sewer and water
lines, City Attorney Dana R. Williams reported that he has been in
conferenoe with Mr. Oleary, Attorney for the Ord Land Co. The
hearing on the Oondemnation Action has been tentatively set for
Wednesday, July,14th.
J. A. Woolley, Consulting Engineer, reported that the Ord
Land Company offered to sell to the City, a small triangular portion
at the West end of Lot 9, Blook 1, Tract 125, for $1500.00, which
price, Mr. Woolley stated, is exorbitant. Mr. Briggs of the Ord
Land Oompany suggested to Mr. Woolley that a compromise might be
worked out. Mr. Woolley exhibited a'map showing the proposed
location of the groin, and the portion of Lot 9 which is necessary I
for the City to acquire in order to construct the protective works.
The City Attorney read appraisal report prepared by A. G.
~aspero as to the value of the property under consideration. Mr.
Williams stated that in case thereiis further Court action, he would
like to have a report from the Inheritance Tax Appraiser of Orange
oounty.
It was moved by Hughes, seconded by Felts that the Oity Attorney

continue negotiations with the Attorneys representing the Ord Land
Company; and report at next meeting.
Motion carried.

On the matter of the proposed building development in Tract 698,
Mayor Reed stated that an:answer on the question of water and sewer
should be given to Mr. Norton at the next meeting. She stated that
Mr. Norton presented his plan to her for the construction of singles
and duplexes in Tract 698 instead of the multiple housing program
previously presented.
Sewage The capacity of the sewage plant to accommodate the possible

capacity~nCrea~e in population was discussed. Mr. Woolley, Co~sulting Eng'r
reported that he made a survey of the plant today, and found that the
filter is not working. The trouble is a mechanical difficulty and can
be repaired easily with little cost. The capacity of the plant was
designed for 5000 population, and should be sufficient, when operating
properly, to serve a population of 7500 without difficul~y.
No action was taken on the matter.

Tract 698, together with the ~evenue to the Oity's tax and water

departments from this new Duia:a~ng('development, and the increased
maintenance oosts resulting therefrom, were discussed.
It was moved by Postal to inform Mr. Norton that the City can-
not finance the installation of sewer and water in Tract 698.
Motion lost for want of a seoond.
The matter of purchase of a new Police car was discussed. Actiol
deferred until next regular meeting of the Oouncil.
It was moved by Postal, seconded by Felts to adjourn.
Motion carried.
