ROLL CALL- Present: Mayor Reed Oouncilmen Felts, Henkey, Hughes, Postal Absent: None READ~NG OF CALL FOR SPECIAL MEETING NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING I To the members of the Cit~ Council of the City of Seal Beach, california. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a Special Meeting of the City Council of the Oity of Seal Beach is called at the request of',:t;he, MayOr t:l!5r1.the:Plu~po~e oflacting upon the application of Philip Norton for plans and specifications for sewer and water mains to be installed in Tract 698, and for any and all other matters of business which may properly come before said City Council. Meeting to be held on Monday, the lst day of November, 1943, at the hour of 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chamber of the City Hall Building. Padrick Ci ty Clerk Philip Norton addressed the Council stating that the I reason for his asking for this special meetin~ is that he must give an answer to F.H.A. in Los Angeles tomorrow, November 2nd, to the effect that there is nothing standing in the way of com- pletion of his building program as outlined in his application to the War Production Board. He stated that he will comply with all requirements of the City Engineer and the Building Department so that the work may start as soon as soon as possible. Mr. Glenn Bailey, who is in charge of the building construction, was introduced to the Council. In answer to questions regarding the dirt fill, Mr. Norton stated that in order to avoid the inconvenience, and additional I labor costs of digging trenches in soft dirt, it is advisable to put the foundations in first, and then make the necessary fill inside and outside the foundations. J. A. Woolley, Consulting Engineer, presented drawing show- ing the depth of the fill in each block, also a map showing the location for the sewer and wa.ter lines. 67 Reso. . RESOLUTION NO. 500 was introduced and read. - A RESOLUTION OF No."500 THE CITY OF SEAL BEAOH, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CIT~ Sewer ENGINEER TO PREPARE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF and '~~'rSEWER AND WATER LINES ON CITY OWNED PROPERTY, AND DIRECTING THE CITY water _ ENGINEER TO FILE SUCH PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS WITH THE CITY CLERK. Tract 69S. It was moved by Felts, seconded by Hughes that Resolution No. 500 be adopted. I Bridge - Alami tos Bay. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Oouncilmen Felts, Henkey, Hughes, Reed Councilman Postal None Motion carried. The matter of the proposed development in Alamitos Bay and the removal of the Ocean Avenue Bridge was discussed. Mayor Reed voiced definite opposition to the proposed removal of the bridge. Mr. Norton stated that the bridge should not be removed now. when the traffic problem for shipyard and war plant workers getting to and from their work is so difficult. It was moved by Felts, seconded by Hughes that the plans and specifi- cations from the County Flood Control District be received and filed and referred to the City Engineer. Motion carried.
