• At the October 13, 2008 City Council meeting, the
Council heard a presentation regarding the
Feasibility Study for the McGaugh Swimming Pool

McGaugh Swimming Pool Issues
• The lap swim pool must provide a separate
pool water treatment from the children's pool
• The circulation system must provide a
complete turnover of water in 6 hours
• There are no restroom facilities available for
pool users on the pool deck
• There must be user-operated handicap
access into both pools
Referral to the Park & Recreation
Commission
• On October 13, 2008 following the receive
and file of the Feasibility Study, the
consensus of the Council was to refer the
matter to the Parks & Recreation
Commission.
• The Commission was presented with the
Feasibility Study and 4 possible site plans
identified by staff and Council.

Marina Park
• Parks & Recreation Commission voted
unanimously in favor of recommending to the
Council that the Seal Beach Community Pool
be replaced and relocated to Marina Park.
• In a separate action, the Commission voted
unanimously in favor of recommending that
the Council consider a 50-meter competition
pool, as it could provide more versatility for
long-term programming.
