HomeMy WebLinkAboutSBCCF Min 2012-05-21 SEAL BEACH CABLE COMMUNICATIONS FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES FOR MAY 21, 2012 The Board of Directors for the Seal Beach Cable Communications Foundation met on May 21, 2012 at the Seal Beach Studio in Seal Beach, California. Board President, Dick Davies called the meeting to order at 7:05pm. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The pledge of allegiance was led by Mr. Davies. ROLL CALL Mr. Anninos, Mr. Osuna, Mr. Davies and Ms. Fielding were present. Robin Fort-Lincke, the PEG Station Manager was also present. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA Motion was made by Mr. Anninos to approve the agenda and seconded by Mr. Osuna. AYES: Mr. Davies, Ms. Fielding, Mr. Anninos, Mr. Osuna NAYES: -0- MOTION PASSED: 4-0 CONSENT CALENDAR MINUTES OF MARCH 19, 2012 BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING Mr. Anninos made a motion to approve the minutes of the Board of Director's meeting of March 19, 2012. Ms. Fielding seconded motion. AYES: Ms. Fielding, Mr. Osuna, Mr. Anninos, Mr. Davies NAYES: -0- MOTION PASSED: 4-0 CHECK REQUEST Mr. Anninos made a motion to accept and pay the check requests. Mr. Osuna seconded the motion. AYES: Mr. Anninos, Ms. Fielding, Mr. Osuna, Mr. Davies NAYES: -0- MOTION PASSED: 4-0 FINANCIAL STATEMENT Ms. Fielding made a motion to accept, receive and file the financial statement prepared by Ms. Fort-Lincke. Mr. Davies seconded the motion. There was discussion. AYES: Mr. Osuna, Ms. Fielding, Mr. Davies, Mr. Anninos NAYES: -0- MOTION PASSED: 4-0 SOLD BUSINESS EQUIPMENT REPAIR Ms. Fort-Lincke stated that the hard drive recorder had arrived however there are some unusual methods in obtaining the software to be able to actually use the deck. She said she will be working on acquiring that information and downloading the software. She stated that the Kramer devices to enhance the computer feed in the council chambers have also arrived and she will be installing them when there is an appropriate break between meetings. Ms. Fort-Lincke stated that she discovered the battery belt in the LW edit bay room was unplugged and asked the two LW board members if they were aware of how long it has been unplugged and if anyone uses it. Mr. Osuna stated that no one has used the battery belt in a very long time. There was discussion that the belt has probably completely discharged by now and since, no one is using it, it would not be replaced until it seems needed in the future. Ms. Fort-Lincke stated that she thought it would be a good idea to take the van down to the hand car wash Big Daddy's in Sunset Beach to have it waxed after the McGaugh shoot in June. She said it might help to keep the paint in better condition for a longer period of time. The board concurred. FUNDING FOR PROGRAMS Ms. Fort-Lincke explained that the next upcoming shoot would be the McGaugh 4th Grade concert on June 7`h. She said that first historical interview from the series Life and Times in Seal Beach began airing in early May and that subsequent interviews would be scheduled as people's scheduled allowed. AUDIENCE COMMUNICATION Mr. Rob Roy was present in the audience. He thanked the board for all that they do in providing public access to the community. He stated that he felt that Sgt. Raul Ahumada from the Seal Beach Police Department had spent a great deal of his personal time to help the station manager build out the mobile production truck, going far beyond the basic support of the efforts of the SBTV-3. He suggested a letter be written to the Police Chief on behalf of the board of directors and public access producers recognizing Sgt. Ahumada's generous contribution. Ms. Fielding also suggested a gift certificate to a local restaurant in the amount of$50. There was discussion. The board concurred. REPORTS PEG STATION MANAGER/EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR REPORT Ms. Fort-Lincke stated that the McGaugh 30th Annual Pageant of the Arts was a huge success. She said that she covered the Thursday night event and also covered the Saturday morning event as well as the evening alumni dance. She also explained that she created a video of the history of the pageant that was played on Saturday during the day in the auditorium and very well-received by the pageant director, teachers, and music composer. Ms. Fort-Lincke reiterated that the first historical program of the series Life and Times in Seal Beach had been completed and that more interviews would follow throughout the next several years, leading into the 100th year anniversary. She stated that the first two interviews went very well. Ms. Fort-Lincke stated that the LW public access training class had already started and she was excited about the new participants in the program. CHIEF ENGINEER REPORT Ms. Fort-Lincke stated that she had nothing new to report that she had not already discussed. CORRESPONDENCE Ms. Fort-Lincke presented the letter from the board's CPA, Mr. Steve Shay in response to the IRS notices regarding the mix-up with the board's tax ID number and the fact that the board did, in fact, file their returns properly and on time for the years named. AUDIENCE COMMUNICATION There was no audience communication. BOARD COMMUNICATIONS The board members thanks Ms. Fort-Lincke for all of her hard work.
