July, 25, 1944.
The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in adjourned
session at 9:30 A. M., and was called to order by Mayor Gauntner
with salute to the Flag.
ROLL CALL:

The first order of business was the appointment of a new
member to the Council to fill the vacancy, It was moved by Council-
Butler
man Jaeckel, seconded by Shouler that J. P. Butler be appo~nted.

ABSENT: None
Motion carried
Mr. Butler took the Oath of office and his seat at the
Council table.
The purchase of a sweeper attachment for the caterpillar
was discussed. Councilwoman Reed moved that the matter be held
Sweeper
over until next meeting, seconded by Jaeckel.

The purchase of a new grader was discussed, it was moved by
Councilman Butler that the Purchasing agent look into the merits

The matter of the City deriving some financial return from
the parking space on the beach on both sides of the Pier was under

Councilwoman Reed made the suggestion Gf straightening out
with the Civil Service Commission's the matter of dismissal of
Police the former police officers. Councilman Jaecksl moved the the
