U. and was called to order by Mayor Gauntner with salute to the Flag. Present, Mayor Gauntner Councilmen, Reed, Butler, Jaeckel, Shouler None Absent, The minutes of regular meeting of January 15th and special meeting of January 27 were read and approved on Mayors motion. COMMUNICATIONS: Letter of Charles E. Griffith City Clerk Anaheim, stating that their City Council would have Ur. Rudy Bryson Park Superinten- Anaheim dent meet with our Council if requested, and would make a survey Park e~t of our tree situation. On Mayor Gauntner's suggestion Tuesday February 13, at 1:00 P. M. was fixed for conference with ~r. Brysen. U. ~. Brockway, asking for permit to close in porch on his property located at 11th Street and Ocean Avenue. Council~oman Brockway Reed stated that she would vote no on account ot precedent establis- Porch I hed and believing that amending of ordinance to permit this particular construction was in violation to existing State Building code. It was moved by Councilman Butler, seconded by Jaeckel that communi- cation be referred to Hlanning Commission. P. A. It was moved to O.P.A. Bldg I Ist Assm'y Church Tax Oancel by Jaeckel, seconded by Shouler to hold over until adjourned meet- ing of February 13th. Motion carried Letter of The First Assembly of God Church asking for cancel- lation on lots 9 and 10, Block 209 for last half 1944-45 taxes. By consent~ of City Attorney it was moved by Shouler, Seconded by Reed that request be granted. A. Miller of the Water Building and Tax Department, of City.Judge and Chief of Police and Fire Chief's annual report were read. It was moved by Councilwoman Reed, seconded by Butler that reports be received and filed. AYES: NOES: ABSE1I!T: Reed Butler, Jaeckel, Shouler, Gauntner None None Motion carried I Attorney Williams read letter from the State Highway Dep't on tree planting on the highway, the Railroad Commission on electric rates in effect in various Southern California Communities. Motion filed for re-hearing of the Valentine Script case. It was the P.lant'g consensus of opinion of the Council that Attorney Williams should continue on the matter as in the past. Wayne Stewart' of the Lang Bus Company appeared before the Council and outlined a proposed change of re-~outing of the Seal Wayne Beach line if consent is obtained from the Office of Defense Trans- Stewal't portation. I It was moved by Councilwoman Reed, seconded by Butler that a departmental financital report of recei~ts and expenditures showing bank balance be prepared for the Council monthly. Motion carried ACCOUNTS AND BILLS: Demands ,numbering 790 to gg2 inclusive were read. It was moved by Councilman Butler, seconded by Jaeckel that demands as read be allowed and warrants drawn on Treasury for same. Attorney Williams explained Williams on regarding resolutions and ordinances and read from copy of carbpn Ord & Reso'n Ord , 307 I 225 oopy letter written by the Legal Department of the League of Cities. Councilman Butler made an expense analysis of costs of hand against mechanizied labor performed by the new rotary street sweeper. Ordinanoe No. 307, setting up Civil Service for 0ity emp- loyees was read. Councilwoman Reed stated she would vote no, at least for the duration.
