The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular session at 8:00 P.M. and was called to order by Mayor Gauntner wi th salute to the Flag. Mayor Gauntner Oouncilmen, Reed, Butler, .Jaeckel, Shouler Present, The minutes of regular meeting of March 5, and special meeting of March 13th weEe read,and approved on Mayor1s motion. COMMUNICATIONS: It was moved by Counoilman Butler, seconded by Jaeokel that property owners petition for the re-surfiolng of alleys east and wearof Main Street be referred to the City Engineer. Motion carried It was moved by Counoilman Jaeckel, seconded by Butler that Planning Commission's reoommendation for permit to conduct day nursery by Mrs Rae Mathis be granted. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Reed, Butler, Jaeckel, Shouler, Gauntner None None , Motion carried It was moved by Councilman Butler, seconded by Jaeckel that Planning Commissionls and Engineerls report on the Neptune Avenue rest rooms be glven more study and further considered at the next regular meeting. Motion carried Invitation from Veterans of Forelgn wars to the Oouncll to be present at thsir installlatlon of offioers. Received and filed on Mayor's motion. Letter of resigination from C. A. Miller, as City Assessor, Tax Collector and Superintendent of Water, Street and Building Departments, effectlve May 1st was read. It was ,moved by Oouncil- man Butler, seconded by Jaeckel tha~ same be accepted with regrets. Motion qarried It was.moved by CoU#cilamn Jaeckel, seconded by Butler that the City Attorney be directed to prepare a resolution, to be ad- opted by the Council, commending Mr. Miller for his long and faith- ful service rendered to the Oity. Motion carried Financial report of City Treasurer and City Clerk for the month of February were read. It was moved by Councilwoman Reed, seconded by Butler that reports be recelved and filed. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Reed, Butler, Jaeckel, Shouler, Gauntner None None Motion carried 234 City Attorney Williams reported upon the Navy's settlement prospects and storm drain at Bay Boulevard. ACCOUNTS AND BILLS: Demands nUlllbering 989 to 1026 inclusive were read amounting to $2. 636.89. It was moved by Councilman'Butler. seconded'by Jaeckel that demand as read be approv~d and warrants drawn on the Treasury for same. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Reed. Butler. Jaeckel. Shouler. Gauntner None None Motion carried I Letter of Hon~lulu Oil Corporation; increasing the initial Hoaolu amount of their offer for oil lease and telegram from the League Oil of California Cities were read and filed on Mayor's motion. Mayor Gauntner requested that he wished repeated ip the minute records. Gauntner None None Motion carried I Councilman Jaeckel explained in detail the features and cost envolved in the new Radiola for the Police Department. Council- woman Reed suggested the matter be held in abyeance. Councilman' Shouler moved that an equipment ~e purchased for the Police Dept.. and a set be installed on the Ge~eral Utility Fire Truck. Councilwoman Reed moved that support be given to the League of California Cities on Assembly bill No. 1504, seconded by Butler. Motion carried It was moved by Councilma~ Jaeckel, seconded by Shouler that Asst' the Oity Attorney be ~tr~cted to prepare a resolution providing Trees Eckberg Assemb I Bill 1504 For1mn for the position of assistant foreman at a wage of 8235. a month. 8235. It.was moved by Councilman Jaeckel, Resigns seoonded ~y Shouler that J. P. Butler be appointed temporary chairman, and that Mr. Qauntners resigination as Mayor 'be accepted.
