M. and was called to order by Mayor Jaeckel with salute to the Flag. Present, Absent, Mayor Jaeckel Councilmen, Shouler, Shufelt, Reed, Butler None I The minutes of regualr meeting of May 21, were read and approved on Mayors motion. OOMMUNICATIONS: Letter of Department of Finance stating they w~re enclosing check for $52.00 payment on Oivilian Defense account. Received and filed on Mayors motion. Letter of Mrs. Don F. Baker, received and filed. City Clerk directed to inform Mrs. Baker the matter of taxi-cab license was being held in abeyance until July first. Letter of Harry F. Brown reguarding building priorities referred to the Chamber of Commerce for attention. I Letter of Melvin L. Robinson, Pomona, asking for permission to to bring Old Bauldy Boy Scout Troop to the beach and sleep on the beach. Letter of permission, with instructions to report to the Police Chief on arrival already forwarded to Mr. Robinson. Received and filed on Mayors motion. Memorandum of Southern Counties Gas Company, asking to locate their master meter station on rear of lot on Main Street Gas Co near the Shell Oil station, referred to City Engineer and Street Met er Pomona Boy Scout Barb acue Pit Superintendent for study and report. Memorandum of City Engineer on repair of beach barbecue pits. It was moved by Councilman Butler, seconded by Shouler that the same be repaired immeditaely. AYES: Shouler, Reed, Butler, Jaeckel NOES: None NOr VOTING: Shufelt ABSENT: None Motion carried I It was moved by Councilman Shufelt, seconded by Butler Beach' that fires be permitted on the beach in fire rings 'only until 12 Fires O'Clock midnight. That builders of fires be directed to exting- uish their own fires before leaving. That City .Attorney be di- rected to introduce and ordinance to this effect. C. A. Miller of the Water, Building and Tax Departments were read. Alsoacopy of letter written by City Attorney to Congressman Phillips regarding the Navy's settlement on City acquired property. It was moved by Cou~ilwoman Reed, seconded by Butler that reports be received and filed. It was moved by Councilwoman Reed, seconded by Butler that bills as read be approved and ~a~rants dwawn on the Treasury for same. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Shouler, Shufelt, Reed, Butler, Jaeckel None None Motion carried It was moved by Councilman Butler, seconded by Shouler that the City Engineer be directed to prepare a project estimate for submission to the Department of Public Works, Highway Department, on the repair of 12th Street between Electrio Avenue and Highway 101. It was moved by Counoilman Butler, seconded by Shouler that telephone service be provided,at the City water works and the life guard station on the beach. Motion carried It was moved by Councilman Butler, seconded by Shufelt that meeting be adjourned to Thursday June 14, at 7:30 P. M. M. and was called to order by Mayor Jaeckel with salute to the Flag. Present. Mayor Jaeckel Oouncilmen, Reed, Butler Councilmen, Shouler, Shufelt Absent, During the reading of Parker Engineering Companies pro- posal on water tower painting job Councilman Shufelt took his I Water seat at the Council table. It was moved by Councilman Butler, Tower seconded by Shufelt that the Parker proposal for sand blasting and painting of the interior'of the Cities water tank be accept~d. AYES: NOES: ABSDf: Shufelt, Reed, Butler, Jaeckel None None Motion carried Letters of Maxine M. Kirkbride for issuiance ~f building Taxi permit and taxi-cab license received and filed. It was moved by Councilman Butler, seconded by Re~that the Fidelity and Deposit Company be informed that the Guy F. Atkinson Company had satisfactorly completed work covered by their bond on the Navy Ammunition and Net Depot construction. Motion carried I Letter of Inez Lane togather with former communications end bi~~s .for damages to her car were given to City Attorney to take up with the indemnity company which underwrites the Cities risks.
