M. and was called to order by Mayor Jaeckel with salute to the Flag. Present, Absent, Mayor Jaeckel Councilmen, Reed, Butler, Shufelt Councilman, Shouler The minutes of regular meeting of July 16th were read and appro- ved on Mayors motion. COMMUNICATIONS: State Board of Equalization notification of transfer of liquor license from Wr.D. Gauntner to Dr. Homer E. De Sadeleer, received and filed on Mayors motion. It was moved by Shufelt, seconded by Butler that Mayson W. Sho- Sho"uler ulers letter asking for leave of absence from Council meetings for Grant Leave one month be granted. Motion carried Letter of Ruth Butler, of Jr. Womens Club asking the City to Jr. Womsubscribe to advertisement of one page, price $50.00 in City Directory ens ..1 Club now being compiled by the club. Froh man jl Police Pay Motion carried Letter of Los Angeles Planning Congress and Orange County League of Cities announcing same meeting date, one in Santa Ana, the other at Huntington Beach. Received and filed. Letter of Dan Frohman, application for taxi-cab license received Taxi and filed. Letter of Philip Norton and one of Thomas Sandifer, calling attention to unusual noisy condition on beach. Mr. Sandifer appeared in person. . . Letter signed by members of Police Department requesting they be paid semi-monthly. Received and filed and city Attorney to check on same. CITY OFFICERS REPORTS: Report for the month of July of the Building Department and of ~ co,. i ".,p. the Water and Tax Departments and of Police Chief and City Judge were read. ,It was moved by Reed, seconded by Butler that reports be re- ceived and filed. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Shufelt, Reed, Butler, Jaeckel None Shouler ,Motion carried ACCOUNTS AND BILLS: Demands numbering 109 to 191, inclusive were read amounting to $9,090.g6. It was moved by Reed, seconded by Butler that demand~ as read be approved and warrants drawn.on the Treasury for same. It was moved by Butler, seconded by Reed that Resolution No. 556 be adopted. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Shufelt, Reed, Butler, Jaeckel None Shouler Motion carried It was moved by Butler, seconded by Shufelt that budget as prepared by Diehl and Company, Auditors, provtdi~g for a tax rate of $1.56 be adopted. It was moved by Shufelt, seconded by Reed that Ordinance No. 314 be deemed as hav- ing had its first reading. Motion carried Resolution No. 557, providing for acquisition of land for Sewer Plant Expansion. It was moved by Shufelt, seconded by Butler that Resolution No. 557 be adopted. Muse on her chicken situation was read to the Council. , ---... It was moved by Councilman Butler, seconded by Shufelt that ef- fective as of this date, City Employees, of the Maintenanoe Depart- ment be given th~ s~x major holidays during the year, with pay, the days being as follows. New Year, M.emorial, July 4, Labor, Thanks- giving and Christmas. Should any llIAn 1;)e requhed to work on e.ny of these days, h~ be then given a day off during the following week, such day, upon approval of the Foreman to be of their own selection.
