The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular meeting at 7:30 P. M. and was called to order by Mayor Jaeckel wits salute to the Flag. COMMUNICATIONS: Letter of W. D. Gauntner recommending to the Council the Gauntner installing of a shuffle board court, referred to the park comm- Shuffle Board Wrigley Girl Scouts Reed's get O.P.!. The matter of a City owned building at 146, 13th I " Street was referred to City Building Inspector for report. Letter of E. W. Reed asking that the City cancel lease of the - former O. P. A. building now in use by the Red Cross, as they Reeds have purchased same and asking that the building be moved at City expense to their property at 316, 10th Street. It was moved by Shufelt, seconded by Butler that the City cancel lease with the Red Cross and deliver building to address as requested and the Bu~lding Inspector and Purchasing Agent be directed to Smith p ., , secure bids for the buildings removal. Smith, City Judge asking for three weeks va- cation leave, with pay and asking the City Council to appoint Jud~ Vacat'n Pann as Judge of the City Court during his absence. It was moved wrth II Pay Amer'n LegIn Soll- inger Car , I by Shouler, seconded by Butler that Judge Smith be granted three weeks vacation with full pay and that ~udge Pann of Huntington Beach be appointed temporary Judge of the City Court of the City of Seal Beach on a basis of $125.00 per month during th~ three weeks abes- ence of Judge Smith. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Shouler, Reed, Butler, Shufelt, Jaeckel None None Motion carried Letter of Amer~can Legion thanking the Council for the granting to them and the Pacific Coast Riflemen lease of the Beach Parking Lot, received and filed on Mayors motion. Request of Mrs. Sollinger and estimate of cost of repairing her car which she claims was damageB by collission with City truck. It was moved by Reed, seconded by Butler letter and estimate of costs Damage be handed to City Attorney to take up with Cities insurance carrier. Letter of Floyd Philip suggesting stop sign at 4th Street and Central Ave., referred to street committee. Letter of James B. Cochran, Long Beach making application to be considered for lease of the pier. Mr. Cochran supplimented his letter by being present. On motion by reed, seconded by Shouler letter was received and filed for future reference. be approved and the City Attorney be directed to introduce such amendment to the Zoning Ordinance. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Shouler, Reed, Butler, Shufelt, Jaeokel None None Motion carried City Engineer reported on re-paving of 12th Street. 2 - .; CITY OFFICERS REPORTS: It was moved by Reed, seconded by Shouler that report for the month of September of the Building Inspector, Chief of Police, Ci~ Judge and the Water and Tax Departments be received and filed. I ACCOUNTS AND BILLS: Demands numbering 337 to 405 inclusive amounting to $10,099.77 were read. It was moved by Butler, seconded by Reed that demands as read be allpwed and warrants drawn 'on the Treasury for same.
