The Oity Oouncil of the City of Seal Beach met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. and was oalled to order by Mayor Jaeckel with salute to the nag. Mayor Jaeckel Oounoilmen, Shouler, Reed, Butler, Shufelt, J The minutes of regular meeting of January 3, and adjourned meet- Present, ing of January g, were read and approved on Mayors motion after slight correction. COMMUNICATIONS: Letter of E. R. Stephens asking removal of two palm trees. Re- ferred to the Street Committee for report. Card of thanks from Mrs. Annie C. Green and Mr. and Mrs Everett C. Kuntz, received and filed. Letter of Orange County League of Cities announcing date of regular monthly meeting. Received and filed. Letter of Seal Beach, Chamber of Commerce requesting the City to submit present plans and future contemplated projects, for beach de- velopment, for proposed master plan. It was moved by Ree6, seconded by Shouler that matter be referred to C. A. Miller for attention. Motion carried , Letter of the Chamber of Commeroe request ion a resolution be adopted by the Council opposing the Federal jurisdiction of lands beneath tidewaters. Matter referred to City Attorney to prepare said resolution. It was moved by Butler, seconded by Reed that $25.00 be donated to the "Matoh of Dimes" Committee, and Mayor authorized to sign oheck. Jacobson on re-zoning of lots 16 - 19 Blook 6, from single to' multible. It was moved by Shufelt, seconded by Butler that requeet be approved, and City Attorney to prepare amendment to Ordinance 199. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Shouler, Reed, Butler, Shufelt, Jaeckel Non~ None Motion carried Letter of Seal Beach Planning Commission, dis-approving applica- tion of Melton M. Uhl for re-zoning of Lots 27 - ag, Block E. Tract 1 from single to business. Received and Filed. Mortenson for extension of his building at, 1430, Ocean Ave. to the front property line. It was moved by Shufelt, seconded by Shouler that request be granted. Motion carried. It was moved by Shufelt, seconded by Butler that the etching pre- sented to the Women's Club for the greatest Seal Beach achievement in 1945 be placed in the Oity Hall Lobby. Motion carried I CITY OFFICERS REPORTS: Oity Clerks report for the month of December was read. City Attorney reported pn possible final payment from the Navy. Department of the Interior denial of Valentine Script filing and reviewed the contract with Curry Engineering Co. on on sewer plant expansion. It was moved by Shufelt, seconded by Butler that City Clerks report be received and filed. Motion carried ' It was moved by Butler, seconded by Shouler that the Mayor be authorized to sign Pier Lease Agreement with Art Lescher and C. M. Stockton. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Shouler, None None Reed, Butler, Shufelt, Jaeckel Motion carried I. ACCOUNTS AND BILLS: Demands numbering 716 to 734 and 736 to 748 inclusive amounting to $2, 024,00 were read. It was moved by Reed, seconded by Butler that demands as read be allowed and wan~ants drawn on the Treasury. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Shouler, Reed, Butler, Shufelt, Jaeckel None None Motion carried It was moved by Reed, seconded by Butler that,the City Attorney be directed to apply to the State Railroad Commission for a hearing in an attempt to secure more frequent and better bus service. Motion carried It.was the wishes of the Council that the hour of dimming Main I' Strset Ornamental lights be advance to 12:30 A. M. The re-painting of the City pier was referred to the Oity Engineer to secure data on equipment and oosts. It was moved by Shufelt, seconded by Butler that the proposal advance by members of the Grand Jury on a cQunty dog .ordinance and county pound be approved by the Oouncil and a letter written Willis Warner, Chairman and copy sent to. Oliver Terry, Orange notifying them of the Councils feeling on the matter Motion carried '. ~~ ... ~. " -:.. Fire It was moved by Butler, seconded by Shouler that the new Fire Stat1n Station be located across Central Avenue opposite the present Station House. The City Council of the City of Seal Beach, met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. and was called to order by Mayor Jaeckel with salute to the Flag. Present, Absent, Mayor Jaeckel Councilmen, Reed, Butler, Shufebt . Councilman, Shouler The minutes of regular meeting of January 17, were read and approved on Mayors motion. COMMUNICATIONS: Re- ~oning Protest petition and three letters from property owners protesting proposed general re-zoning. It was moved by Reed, seconded by Shuf- elt that letter of Mr. Gibson asking for re-zoning of property at IS/5 SFHL wPY for rest home be referred to the Planning Commission. Motion carried I' It was moved by Shufelt that letters and petition protesting re- zoning be referred to the Planning Commission with the suggestion that present planning prevail and anyone wanting to re-zone make written request and proceed as in the past with usual established proceedure.
