The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular seesion at 8:00 P.M. and was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem Shufelt with salute to the Flag. Pr'esent, Absent, Councilmen, Butler, Reed Shufelt Councilman, Webster, Mayor Jaeckel Chairman Shufelt announced that the Council would not consider or take any action on the Oil situation at this meeting. It was moved by Reed, second by Butler that a fact finding committee be named to make an investigation and report back to the Council their Find- ing findings on the oil situation. It was moved by Butler, seoond by Reed that request of the First Brethern Church for use of the Auditorium for Snmday eervices during June and July be granted. AYES: NOIi:S: ABSENT: Butler, Reed, Shufelt None Webster, Jaeckel Motion carried It was moved by Butler, second by Reed that Planning Commissions recommendation that Ray Hartzel be granted a temporary permit for a building material yard on Bay Boulevard be approved and to provide that proper conditions be specified in his application for business , license. AYES: Butler, Reed, Shufelt ABSENT: Webster, Jaeckel Motion carried " Request of Homer Sowers for permission to sell Hot Dogs and bottled refreshments on the beach denied. . I"- It was moved by Butler, second that the City Engineer budget 8500.00 for streets from the 1/4 cent gas tax fund! Report for the month of City Treasurer and City Clerk were read. City Attorney read affadavit of Harriet R. Young claiming damages done to her car. It was moved by Reed, second by Butler that claim be rejected and City Clerk to so notify her attorney B. J. Brown. Motion carried City Attorney read carbon copy of letter granting permiSSion to Grayhound lines to route their buses throug~the City over Central avenue and Main Street. It was moved by Reed, second by Butler that Ord 325 Ord 326 Ord 327 report of City Clerk be approved and that of City Treasurer returned for slight correction. AYES: ABSENT: Butler, Reed, Shufelt Webster, Jaeckel Motion carried Demands numbering 1179 to 1219 inclusive amounting to $2,448.71 were read. It was moved by Reed, second by Butler that Demands as read be approved and warrants drawn on the Treasury for same. AYES: ABSENT: Butler, Reed, Shufelt Webster, Jaeckel Motion carried I, Ordinance No. 325, an amendment to the zoning ordinance was introduced. It was moved by Reed, second by Butler that Ordinance No. 325 be deemed as having had its first reading. AYES: ABSENT: . Butler, Reed, Shufelt Webster, Jaeckel Motion carried Ordinance NO. 326, Fire Department compensation was introduced. It was moved by Butler, second by Reed that Ordinance No. 326 be deemed as having had its first reading. AYES: KBSElfT: Butler, Reed,. Shufelt. It was moved by Butler, second by Reed that Ordinance No. 327 be deemed as having had its first reading. I AYES: ABSENT: Butler, Reed, Shufelt Webster, Jaeckel Motion carried It was moved by Butler that the Council enter into an agreement the American Legion and Riflemen that they install twenty three more be~ch fire rings at an approximate cost of _3.50 each. the Riflemen, Legion and City share construction coste equally. that bundles of wood are to be sold by the Legion.and Riflemen, City to furnish labor and wood and to receive fifty per cent (5~ of gross proceeds.
