The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular
session at 8:00 P. M. and was called to order by Mayor Jaeckel with
salute to the Flag.

The minutes of regular meeting of August 28th were read
minor change in regard to communication from Planning Commission
were approved,

Petition by five residents on Ocean Avenue against the permit

set back. Matter was discussed by City Attorney and members of
City Council.
As the permit Was not in violation of the Ordinance
providing a 6 ' set back on the north side of Ocean Avenue it was
agreed that the Building Department was within their rights in
granting the permit. Petition received and filed on Mayors motion.
Peti tion of thirty three (33). residents on Central Avenue
for change of route of Grayhound buses away from Cent~al Ave.
Lengthy discussion by J. C. Felts in favor of a change and others
in the meeting against, Council decided that a meeting be held with

them and a representative of the Greyhound and Pacific Electric busses
at 7:00 P. M. September 25th to d~scuss the matter. Motion by
Webster, second by Reed.
Motion carried
Request of Edward Bedroee, 2895, Mataio St. So. Pasadena to
drop bottles containing tracts of a religious nature off of Pier
on September 14th denied.
Letter from Planning Commission opposing the permits' for Quonset
huts anywhere in Seal Beach. Moved by Webster, second by Reed that
Building Inspector be instructed to

Seal Beach Girl Scouts Inc., requesting that they be granted a
lob
Scouts lease for exclusive use of City Tax deeded lots, 47 - 49 - Block 106
Lots
for club building. Moved by Webster, second by Butler that City
Attorney prepare a lease for period of twenty five (25) years at
$1.00 per year.

Referred to City Attorney for recommendation.
Letter from Chamber of Commerce in regard to traffic signs and
re-painting of City sign at west end of Central Avenue, referred to
Purchasing agent to check cost,
Report for the month of August of Police 6hief, City Judge,
Building Supt., Water Supt., and Tax Collector were read. Moved by
Shufelt, second by Reed that repomts be received and filed.
Motion carried
Demands numbering 257 to 338 inclusive amounting to $7,136.51
were read. Moved by Shufelt, second by Reed that demands be allowed
and warrants drawn on the Treasury.

Fire Chief Knighton discussed the matter of keeping red lights on
Red
lights end of Pier.
Moved by Webster, second by Butler that Fire Chief be
.Pier instructed to install Time Clock for red lights at a coat not to
exceed $75.00.
