HomeMy WebLinkAboutCTAB Min 2013-02-06 CITY TREE ADVISORY BOARD REGULAR MEETING AGENDA Wednesday, February 6, 2013 3:00 p.m. City Council Chambers 211 Eighth Street Seal Beach, California JOF SEA[ 9F \�cpRPORgTFO'q�y CD Q DUNT`I CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 3:01 pm PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Ernest Area, Maintenance Services Supervisor, lead the board and others meeting attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance. ROLL CALL City Tree Advisory Board (CTAB) members Jim Caviola, Jan Stillwell, Mario Voce, and Paul Christianson were present at the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Ernest Area, Maintenance Services Supervisor. Also in attendance were Luis Estevez, Deputy Director of Public Works. Heather Gibbs, Executive Assistant was present to take the meeting minutes. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Paul Christianson moved to approve the agenda; Mario Voce seconded the motion. The motion was passed unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no public comments. SCHEDULED MATTERS A. Approval of Minutes: November 7, 2012 Mario Voce moved to approve the minutes of the November CTAB meeting. Paul Christianson seconded the motion. Motion was passed unanimously. B. Tree Removal Requests: 1 . Located at 604 Sea Breeze Drive Ernest Area, was not in favor of the Ginko tree suggested by the requestor. Ernest Area said the Ginko trees do not typically do well in this area, and was unsure why the requestor wanted that particular tree. Ernest Area suggested the board approve removal of the current tree at the requestor's expense and to be replaced with the City approved Magnolia tree. Ernest stated that Magnolia trees are slow growing and cause little damage. Paul Christianson moved to approve the request to remove the tree located at 604 Sea Breeze Drive and replace it with a Magnolia Tree at the requestor expense. Jan Stillwell seconded the motion, the motion was passed unanimously. STAFF CONCERNS A. February / March 2013 Tree Planting Schedule. A total of 80 trees will be planted, there are 46 extra trees that will also be planted 34 will be going to Old Town and the remaining 12 to CPE. Next year the extra trees will go to CPW and the Hill. Paul Christianson moved to approve this plan, seconded by Mario Voce, motioned was passed unanimously. BOARD MEMBER CONCERNS B. Pending Action Items 1 . Grants/ grant writer ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 3:11 pm. The next meeting will be Wednesday, March 6, 2013.
