Minutes City of Seal Beach - Planning Commission March 6, 2013 Chair Massa-Lavitt called the regular meeting of the Planning Commission to order at 7:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers and led the Salute to the Flag. ROLL CALL Present: Chair Massa-Lavitt; Commissioners: Campbell, Cummings, Goldberg, Sloan Staff Present: Jim Basham, Director of Community Development Jerry Olivera, Senior Planner Crystal Landavazo, Assistant Planner Steven Flower, Assistant City Attorney Linda Devine, City Clerk APPROVAL OF AGENDA With no objections, the Chair so ordered the approval of the agenda. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Chair Massa-Lavitt opened oral communications. Shirley Broussard, SWARM Groups & Associates, Inc. (501C-3 faith based public charity corporation), provided a recap on the lack of services to the homeless since 2009. There were no other speakers - Chair Massa-Lavitt declared oral communications closed. Chair Massa-Lavitt welcomed the new Assistant Planner, Crystal Landavazo. CONSENT CALENDAR Campbell moved, second by Cummings, to approve the recommended actions on the consent calendar, as presented. AYES: Campbell, Cummings, Goldberg, Massa-Lavitt, Sloan NOES: None Motion Carried 1. Approved Planning Commission Meeting Minutes of February 6, 2013. 2. Adopted Planning Commission Resolution No. 13-3 — A resolution of the Planning Commission of the City of Seal Beach, changing its regular meeting time to 7:00 p.m. (notification to the City Council will be at their March 25th meeting) 3. Adopted Resolution No. 13-2 approving Minor Use Permit 13-1 — Addition of two covered patios; a covered porch; and an interior remodel to an existing, non-conforming structure —213 3d Street. Page 2 - Planning Commission 02/06/13 The Assistant City Attorney advised that the adoption of Resolution No. 13-2 approving MUP 13-1 is the final decision of the Planning Commission. There is a 10-day appeal period to the City Council and the appeal period begins February 7, 2013. SCHEDULED MATTERS No items at this time. PUBLIC HEARINGS No items at this time. DIRECTOR'S REPORT The Director of Community Development announced that on April 3rd the Planning Commission and the AdHoc General Plan/Local Coastal Program Citizens Advisory Committee will be meeting in a joint workshop to go over the upcoming 2008-2014 Housing Element draft and stated that the meeting time for the Planning Commission meeting for March 20th will be 7:30 p.m. COMMISSION CONCERNS None at this time.
