Crumby, Assistant City Manager/Public Works SUBJECT: SEAL BEACH PARKS AND COMMUNITY SERVICES MASTER PLAN SUMMARY OF REQUEST: That the City Council and the Recreation & Parks Commission jointly conduct a study session to collectively provide input to the City's consulting team on the development of the Seal Beach Parks and Community Services Master Plan. BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS: On November 13, 2012 the City of Seal Beach entered into a professional services agreement with Richard Fisher Associates for the preparation of a Parks and Community Services Master Plan. As part of the master plan scope of service the consulting team has performed an inventory of all recreation facilities, held public meetings, conducted a telephonic survey, and reviewed data from the City. At this time the consulting team is seeking to facilitate an open discussion with the City Council and Recreation and Parks Commission to solicit their collective input regarding the needs of the community with respect to recreational facilities and programs. The consulting team will present their findings to date and needs they have identified in the City's park system. Items discussed during this study session will be reflected in the Seal Beach Parks and Community Services Master Plan document that is scheduled to come to the City Council for adoption in May. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: There is no Environmental Impact related to this item LEGAL ANALYSIS: No legal analysis is required for this item FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact related to this item. RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council and the Recreation & Parks Commission jointly conduct a study session to collectively provide input to the City's consulting team on the development of the Seal Beach Parks and Community Services Master Plan.
