The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in: regular sess- ion at S:OO P. M. and was called to order by Mayor Jaeckel with salute to the Flag. Present, Absent, Mayor Jaeckel Councilmen, Butler, Webster, Shufelt, Reed Councilmen, None '1 Mayor Jaeckel called attention to the Lions Club gift of the Merry-go-round as an addition to the beach recreational equipment. It was agreed that a resolution by the City Council be appropriate method of acceptance. City Attorney directed to prepare said reso- lution. The minutes of regular meeting of July 9, and special meeting of July 21, were read and approved on Mayors motion. The next order of business was the canvass of absentee ballots in the Election of July 17. Forty (40) ballots were used, two (2) were spoiled one issued was not returned. Results'were as follows. Matter was referred to City Attorney for atten'tn. Demande numbering 112 to 162 inolusive, amounting to $3,797.16 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented. It was moved by Butler, second by Reed that demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for same. City Attorney read letter from the Los Alamitos Air Base on low flying planes over the City which were complained of some time ago. Also reported on legal aspects of using part of the Park and Boulevard fund in connecting up Ocean Avenue and Bay BlVd'. CALL FOR SPECIAL MUNICIBAL ELECTION TO FILL VACANCIES ON THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE' CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, ARISING AS A RESULT OF THE SPECIAL REOALL ELECTION HELD ON THURSDAY, IDHE 17th DAY OF JULY, 1947. . Pursuant to the provisions of Section 11121 of the Election Code of the State of California, the undersigned, John W. Mulcahy, City Cllerk of the City of Seal Beach, does hereby calT a special Elec-election to be held in said City of Seal Beach, on Tuesday the 26th tion day of August, 1947, to fill three vacancies arising as a result of the recall election held in the City of Seal Beach on Thursday Not- the 17th day of July, 1947, at which last named elect'1orr a majority ice of the legisl&tive body was recalled. Nomi~tion papers proposing candidates to fill the vacancies shall be citculated and filed within fifteen (15) days after the date ~f this call (July 23rd). Such nomination papers proposing candidates to fill the vacancies may be obtained at the office of the City Clerk, and the time for filing such nomination papers pro- posing candidates to fill the vacancies on the City Council shall expire at the hour of five (5:00) o'clock P. M. on Thursday August 7, 1947. ' NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that pursuant to the provisions of Sec- tion 9756, of said Election Code each seat on the City Council is a seperate office. The nomination papers which are obtainable in .the office of the City Clerk, will specify the dates, respectfully, of expiration of the terms of office of the respective offices to be filled at such election, as follows: As to two (2) of the offices on the City Council: 11 FOR THE OFFICE OF COUNCILMAN, TERM ENDING APRIL IS, 1950". As to one (1) of the offices on the City Council: "FOR THE OFFIOE OF COUNCILMAN, TERM ENDING APRIL 20, 1945". There will be four (4) voting precincts for the purpose of holding said election, consisting of the regular election precincts established for holding State or County elections, as follows: VOTING PRECINCT NO. 1 -250, 5th Street, near Electric Avenue. VOTING PRECINCT NO.2-Ross Motel, Corner Bay Blvd. & Electric , VOTING PRECINCT NO.3-City Hall Building, 201, 5th Street VOTING PRECINCT NO.4-Grammar School Building, 12 & Highway The polls will be open between the hours of 7: A.
