M. and was called to order by Mayor Pro-Tem Shuflet with salute to the Flag. Present Mayor Pro-Tern, Shufelt Councilmen, Butler, Webster, Reed Absent, Mayor Jaeckel The minutes of regular meeting of July 23rd were read and I approved on Mayor Pro-Tem's motion. COMMUNICATIONS: Letter of Mrs. J. A. Chamberlin of the Sea Shell Chateau Club. Mrs. Chamberlain was present and explained operation of the club. Planning Commission recommending zone variance for property of J. R. McKinney, 350, Ocean Avenue. It was moved by Webster, second by Reed that same be approved and City Attorney be directed to pre- pare the necessary amendment to the zoning ordinance. Motion carried Planni~g C?mmission recommending that a resolution be intro- duced desiginating Bay Boulevard and Ocean Avenue a Boulevard. It was moved by Reed, second by Butler that the City Attorney be directed to prepare such resolution. I Motion carried Letter of A. C. Brundage asking for six (6) months extension on his recent re-zoning. Referred to Planning Commission. . Annual report of the Fire Department and budget request R & F. Report of the City Engineer on extra work done by Merritt Wel- drng Contractors at the time of lafing the water lines. Matter re- ferred to a committee composed of City Engineer, J. P. Butler, and City Attorney to adjust the matter between City and Merritt interests. Repo~t for the month of July of Police Chief, City Judge, Build- ing, Water and Tax Departments was read. It was moved by Reed, 2nd by Webster that City officers reports be received and filed. Miller with the approval of City Attorney arrange to advertise and sell at . public auction at the earliest date certain tax deeded lots. It was moved by Reed, second by Butler that demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for same. AYES: Butler, Webster, Reed, Shufelt NOES: None ABSENT: Jaeckel Motion carried Ordiance No. 346 was presented. Amendment to the zoning ordin- ance. It was moved by Butler, second by Webster that Ordinance No. 346 be deemed as having had its first reading. Motion carried Resolution No. 621 was presented. Accepting play ground equip- ment from the Lions Club. It was moved by Reed, second by Webster that Resolution No. 621 be adopted. Motion carried Resolution No. 622 was presented. Counties interest in City tax deeded lots. It was moved by Reed",,:.ileconcbby'::'Webster that Resolu- tion No. 622 be adopted, Motion carried Resolution No. 623 was presented. Certain major streets declared as Boulevards. It was moved by Butler, second by Webster that Res- olution No. 623 be adopted, Resolution No. 624 was presented. Motion carried i ~ Gas tax allotment. It was moved by Reed, second by Butler that Resolution No. 624 be adptd. Motion carried A short recess was declared. After the recess the necessity for re-wiring at the sewer plant was discussed. It was moved by Webster, second by Butler that the necessary work be done under the supervision of W. S. Knighton. M. at which time Auditor Frank will be present to present the 1947 - 48 budget and to tentative~y fix the tax rate for the fiscal year 1947 - 1948.
