HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Min 1948-08-03 I Amus- ~t 459 Seal Beach, Oalifornia, August 3, 1948. The City Oouncil of the City of Seal Beach met in regular session with Mayor Pro-Tem Brostrom presiding. Meeting was called to order with salute to the Flag. Present; Mayor Pro-Tem Brostrom Councilmen, Bowers, Leonard, Jacobsen Absent, Mayor Shufelt The Minutes of regular meeting of July 20 were read and approved. COMMUNIOATIONS: Letter of Alice Dowel asking Council's permission for the orgi- nization of an chartiable orginization yet to be incorporated, to Games conduct amusement games. Letter received and filed. It was moved by Bowers, second by Jacobsen that the City Attorney be directed to pre- Dance pare an ordinance providing for such games. Motion carried Unanimous Letter of V. F. W. asking permission to conduct a street dance. It was moved by Leonard, second by Jacobsen that permit be granted-' - " V.F.W. with the proviso that same would be under the supervision of the'Police Chief and that the same be conducted at the head of Main Street at I McKi- nney the Pier entrance and that no fee be charged the public. Motio~ carried Un Letter of John R. McKinney accepting appointment to the Planning eommlssion. Received and Filed. Letter of J. E. Brockman poi~ting out enequalities in the Wheel Brock- man Tax Licensed collected from various types of firms. Fire Wood Received & Filed. It was moved by Leonard, second by Jacobsen that agreement be entered into with Phil J. Baddley and Thomas A. Duddleson for the sale of fire wood for the fire rings. That the City receive 15% of Beach gross sales payable daily and that permit may be cancelled at any time without notice. Smith II F. J. Motion carried It was moved by Jacobsen, second by Bowers that Fred J. Smiths request for two weeks vacation be granted. Motion carried Un C. A. Miller reported on progress of dump lease and Water & Power right of way for James V. Arnerich. It was moved by Lsonard, seoond by Jacobsen that the Neptune Ave. Neptune rest room building be moved to the rear of the City Hall Building and Rest Room that Roy Thomas be directed to proceed with same at once. It was moved by Leonard, second by J~cobsen that reports be received and filed. Motion carried Un Demands numbering 149 to 222 inclusive amounting to $10,233.35 as approved by the Einance Committee were presented. It was moved by Jacobsen, second by Bowers that demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for same. Delaney was present and registered a complaint that an attempt had been made to collect a beach Parking Lot charge while only stopping his car in the street approach at the lot to unload passengers and supp.lies.'
