HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Min 1949-02-21 " 'l ~O Seal Beach, California, February 21, 1949. The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. Meeting was called to order with salute to the Flag. Present, Absent, I Mayor Shufelt, Oouncilmen, Leonard, Brostrom, Bowers Oouncilman, Jacobsen The minutes of regular meeting of February 7th wereread and app- roved on Mayorls motion. COMMUNICATIONS: Letter of James V. Arnerich asking to withdraw his offer to deed to the Oity the water and sewer lines in the Bureau of Water and Power Arner ich right of way. It was moved by Leonard, second by Bowers that request Sewer & Water be approved. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Lines Leonard, None Jacobsen Brostrom, Bowers, Shufelt Motion carried Recommendation of Planning Commission on self service laundry held Self Serve over until next regular meeting. Report for the month of January of Oity Treasurer and Oity Clerk was read. It was moved by Bowers, second by Brostrom that reports be received and filed. Motion carried Ord Ordinance No. 373'was read in full. Licenseing of Bicycles. It I was moved by Brostrom, second by Bowers that Ordinance No. 373 be deemed 373 as having had its first reading, and be sent to its second reading a nd adoption. Motion carried Demands numbering 1037 to 1075 inclusive amounting to $5,727.11 as approved by the Finance Oommittee was presented. It was moved by 1 Brostrom, second by Bowers that bills be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for same. Present, Absent, Mayor Shufelt Councilmen, Bowers, Brostrom, Leonard, Jacobsen Councilmen, }Tone Mayor Shufelt asked the Qity Engineer for a report on costs and Alley Rep- suggestions for repairing the City alleys. airs D~l Murphy of the Ansco Construction Co., togather with the St. I Superintendent made a tour of the alleys of the City on Monday February 21, and Mr. Murphy gave the City by letter an estimate of cost in three different methods of repair. Mr. Woolley quoted from this letter and suggested that the 1st alternative be followed-- to fine grade and seal-coat i!'ith bitumel and'a co~rse of 3/8" rock and rolled at an es~imated cost of ~~ ~ per square foot Woolley expressed the opinion that to build up our maintenance crew and organize to do
