The City Oouncil of the City of Seal Beach met nn regular sessim
'at 8:00 P. M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. Meeting was called to

The first order of business was the presentation of a petition

tion of property owners in the single family residence zone west of 8th
Street asking that steps be taken to re-zone the district north of
Ocean Avenue to that of Multiple Family use, togather with letter
of the Building Inspector stating approximate amount of Multiple
dwellings already in the district. It was moved by Jacobsen, second
by Bowers that the Planning Commission be directed to take steps
to hold hearings on the proposal.

. · Yr G. Stangeland appeared before the Oouncil and made an
apology for his actions and language used by him during the discus~ion
on the umbrella concession in the meeting of March 21st. ~r Stangeland's
apology was accepted by all members of the Council present.

The minutes of regular meeting of April 4th were read and after
correction of error in price paid for Street grader and the addition
of statement that said grader was purchased on conditional sales
agreement, were on Mayors motion approved as read.
On motion by Jacobsen, second by Bowers the regular order of
business'was dispensed with to allow persons present in the large
audiance gathered to express their displeasure on the adoption of"
Ordinance No. 376., Richard and Sylvia Steyling, Eugene Keenoy, Mar~ha
Ohadwick, Max Henkey, Jessie W. Reed, Walter W. Mahaffey, Oharles A.
Bradshaw and many others presented their objections, as did Oouncil-
Gamb- man Brostrom. Letters of ' protest from the Woman's Olub and Woman's

Society of Ohristian Endevor were read. It was moved by Bowers,
second by Brostrom that Ordinance No. 376 be tabled for two weeks.
