M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. Meeting was called to order with salute to the Flag. Present, Absent, Mayor Shufelt Oouncilmen, Bowers, Brostrom, Jacobsen, Leonard Councilmen, None The minutes of regular meeting of May 16 were read and approved on Mayor's motion. I . The letter in reference to the proposed Water land by Senator William Knowland and Chief of the Navy was received and filed. Letter and sketch of Associated Telephone Oompany asking permit to lay conduit for wires under certain alleys and streets was referred to the Oity Attorney. Application of Ralph S. McLean and W. J. Bobisch for position as City Engineer was read. It was moved by Leonard, second by Jacobsen that Mr. McLean be employed and continue on same conditions and pay basis as former engineer. AYES: Bowers, Brostrom, Jacobsen, Leonard, Shufelt NOES: None ABSENT: . None 1 Letter of J. A. Woolley, submitting an estimate of well drilling costs and attached letter of A. L. Sonderegger and chart, on water analysis,. together with outline of agreement employing Woolley as Consulting Engineer to draw plans and specifications and furnish inspection and supervision of the job at an engineering fee of 7% of the cost. In conjunction with this matter, Resolution 670 was introduced and read, declaring the existance of an emer- gency in the water supply. ' It was moved by Bowers, second by Jacobsen that Resolution 670 be adopted. Recommendation of the Planning Commission, resoning all 1 Planning property West of 8th Street and North of Ocean Avenue, not business Comm. West of 8th St. ,~. , property, from that of Single to Multiple Zone. Noel Chadwick presented a petition asking that Block 2 and 3 on Ocean Avenue be excluded. It was moved by Brostrom, that request be granted. Failed for want of a second. It was moved by Leonard. second,by Jacobeen, that recommendation of the Planning Oommission be a~proved and Oity Attorney directed to incorporate change in the Zoning Ordinance. Police Chief, Building, Water and Tax Departments. were r~ad. It was moved by Jacobsen, second by Bowers. that reports be received and filed. Motion carried Demands No. 1481 to 1570 amounting to $9,247.48 were presented. Demand No. 1534 in the amount of $70.00 was not O.X'd by Brostrom until he could more clearly determine what same wa~ in payment of. It was moved by Leonard, seco~d by Jaoobsen that the Mayor be directed to sign said demand, and all bills'be approved and warrants , drawn on Treasury for same. It was moved by Leonard, second by Jacobsen that Resolution 671 be adopted. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Bowers, Brostrom, Jacobsen, Leonard. Shufelt None None Motion carried It was moved by Leonard, second by Brostrom, that the Oity " Olerk be directed to advertise for bids for City's legal advertising' for 1949-1950 Fiscal Year.
