Mayor ATTEST: "'-- Seal Beach, California July 5, 1949 The Oity Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular session at 8:00 P. M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. Meeting was called to order with salute to the Flag. Present, Absent, Mayor Shufelt Councilmen, Bowers, Brostrom, Jacobsen, Leonard Councilmen, None The minutes of the regular meeting of June 20, 1949, were read and approved on Mayor's motion. Oard of thanks from Ourley Webber's family for floral wreath. Received and filed. ~etter of Mrs. Myrtle Johnson, asking permission to rent her lots at 10th and Ocean Avenue for car parking purposes. It was moved by Jacobsen, second by Bowers that request be denied until such time as lots are black topped. W. a,sking that their Business License be pro- rated as their lease of parking lot terminates September 30, 1949. City Attorney advised that as no provision was provided in the Business Ordinance for a shorter term than an annual basis, the Council had no other alternative than to deny the request. Letter of Doroth Dallas, asking Business License for Physic Reading. It was moved by Brostrom, second by Leonard that request be denied. Ferna,ld. complaining that neighborhood children were committing a nuisance on the vacant lots next to his property, referred to Police Chief. Letter of Helen M. Roberts calling attention to conditions of street and sidewalk at East end of sea Way, referred to Maintenance Foreman. I Letter of J. A. Woolley withdrawing as Engineer from the proposed water project. It was moved by Brostrom, second by Jacobsen, that O. A. Miller write A. L. Sonderegger, sending a copy to Woolley, asking Mr. SOnderegger to write the Navy Depart- ment explaining the critical situation in which the City finds itself in regards to its water supply. Report for the month of June of Police Chief. City Judge, Building, Water and Tax Departments was read. It was moved by Jacobsen, second by Bowers that reports be received and filed. Mo'tion carried Demand numbering i to 87 inclusive, amount to $11,018.93 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented. Report by the Beach and Park Committee' on the small buildings used on the beach in connection with the Umbrella Concession of Conces- sion which residents along the West beach complained. The report was that the concess10ner would eliminate the onea from the extreme Reso. 674 I East and West ends and move the other two to a P9sition adjoining the Life Guard Stations and paint same to harmonize in color with said stations.
