M. with Mayor Shufelt presiding. was called to order with salute to the Flag. Present, Mayor Shufelt Oouncilmen, Leonard, Jacobsen, Brostrom Oouncilmen, Bowers Absent, The minutes of the regular meeting of Juiy.. r81ili: and special adjourned meeting of~uly 19th, after addition to motion granting request on Miller's concrete fence across Seal Way that the City shall be ?eld free of any liability and expense in granting of permit, minutes were approved on Mayors motion. 1 COMMUNICATIONS Letter of the Planning Commission requesting Oouncil to have the City Attorney meet with them at the time of their regular meeting August 9th. It was moved by Leonard, second by Jacobsen, that the City Attorney be directed to so do. It was moved by Jacobsen, second by, Leonard that contra.ct transfer be approved, if acceptable to General Neon Company. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Leonard, Jacobsen, Brostrom, Shufelt None Bowers Motion carried Letter of the Building Inspector and Health Department asking that nuisance in connection with building at 9li Ocean Avenue, be abated. It was moved by Brostrom, second by 'Leonard to direct the City Attorney to prepare the Resolution and notice necessary to abate the nuisance complained of. U..JV Letter of the City Clerk petitioning Council for permission to be absent from office and to leave the State for the period from August Bth and ending not later than August 31st. It was moved by Jacobsen, second by Leonard that request be granted. It was moved by Jacobsen, second by Leonard that reports be received and filed. Motion carried. Street Superintendent submitted his report on the weed abatement order. No objections were registered. It was moved by Brostrom, second by Jacobsen to close the hearing and approve the report. It was moved by Brostrom, second by Jacobsen, that Resolution 678 be adopted. AYES: NOES: A13SENT: Leonard, Jacobsen, Brostrom, Shufelt None Bowers Motion carried Demands No. 174-256 inclusive were presented. The City Attorney recommended that Demand No. 230 of Ralph S. McLean in the amount of $208.00 be deleted to $103.50, salary only and that the matter 'of further adjustment of amount claimed in demand be adjusted with Mr. McLean. It was moved by Brostrom, second by Jacobsen that demands in amount of $11,g96.30 be approved and warrants drawn on the Treasury for same. It was moved by Leonard, second by Ja.cobsen that the original be filed and copy furnished 5:Ja Ord. 379 Ord. 380 Resq. 680 Reso. 679 Ord. 375 Reso. 681 each Council member. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Leonard, Ja.cobsen, Brostrom, Shufelt None Bowers Motion carried Ordinance No. 379 fixing the 1949-1950 tax rate at $1.36 was presented and read. It was moved by Leonard, second by Jacobsen that Ordinance No. 379 be declared an emergency measure. It was moved by Leonard,second by Jacobsen that Resolution 680 be adopted. It was moved by Leonard, second by Jacobsen, that Resolution No. 679 be adopted. It was moved by Leonard, second by Jacobsen that Ordinance No. 37B be deemed as having its second reading and be adopted. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Leonard. None Bowers Jacobsen, Brostrom, Shufelt I Motion carried Resolution 681 was presented and read amending Section 91 of Ordinance No. 377, changing from 2 hours to 1 hour parking limits on certain streets, SUndays and Holidays included. It was moved City Attorney recited from memorary outline of proposed Resolution. 531 by Leonard, second by Jacobsen that Resolution No. 651 be adopted. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Leonard, Jacobsen, Brostrom, Shufelt None Bowers Motion carried It was moved by Leonard, second by Jacobsen that the City Garbage Attorney be directed to prepare an Ordinance for garbage and trash & Trash ,I Gar Wood Load Pack- er I I, collection with a fee to be charged to business places only.
