The Oity Oouncil of the Oity of Seal Beach, met in regular
session at g:OO P.m., with Mayor ,Shufelt presiding. Meeting
was called to order with ealute to the Flag.

The minutes of the regular meeting of August 15, 1949, were
read and approved on Mayor's motion.
~etter of Betty Sandy expressing appreciation for the oiling
of alleys. Received and Filed.
Letter of Oity Olerk of LaHabra asking cooperation of the
Oity Oouncil in protesting Water Service permit to the Whittier
Water Company, by signing the Resolution to protest the certifi-
cation of territory for water distribution, and the contemplated
annexation of Cities in Orange Oounty, inc1uding La Habra, and
other unincorporated areas, to the Metropolitan Water District.
~he Mayor recommended that the Resolution be adopted. City Attor-
ney suggested that the Resolution be acted upon during the regular
order of Resolutions.

Letter of the Seal Beach Taxpayers Association recommending
that additional fire rings be provided on the Beach. ' Referred to
the Beach and Park Committee and filed for future consideration.

Letter of Ohamber of Commerce announcing time for the Youth
day Celebration,Parade, Q~tobe~, and asking the City Officials to
take part in the Parade. It was moved by Leonard, second by Jacobsen,
th~t the invitation be accepted.

Letter of the Seal Beach Ohamber of Commerce asking the City
Oouncil to make a financial appropriation towards the purchase of
a trophy for the Youth Day Oelebration. It was moved by Leonard,
second by Bowers that the sum of $25.00 be donated from the Music
and Promotion fund for the purpose of Trophy purchase.
