Ingram, City Manager FROM: Patrick Gallegos, Assistant City Manager SUBJECT: HOURLY WAGES FOR PART-TIME, SEASONAL, AND TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES That the City Council adopt Resolution No. 6479 establishing hourly wages for part-time, seasonal, and temporary employees, and repealing on the effective date specified, all resolutions in conflict therewith. Effective July 1, 2014, the minimum wage in California will be $9.00 per hour. In order to remain in compliance with the State of California's Minimum Wage Order, the City proposes a wage increase of 4.29% for part-time employee listed in Exhibit 1. The increase will not only ensure that the City falls into compliance with the Minimum Wage Ordinance, but also makes certain that the City will continue to recruit, retain, and motivate experienced, quality part-time employees who are invaluable in the delivery of services to the community. Staff recommends an increase in wages to meet the State of California's Minimum Wage Order of $9.00 per hour. There is no Environmental Impact related to this item. LEGAL ANALYSIS: No legal analysis is required for this item. Agenda Item — F The 4.29% increase in wages for part-time employees amounts to approximately $39,100. Funding for this increase was included in the Adopted FY 2014-2015 Budget to cover the additional salary expense. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Seal Beach City Council hereby: Section 1. Approves the 2014 City of Seal Beach Pay Structure for Part-Time Employees, effective June 23, 2014, attached hereto as Exhibit 1 and incorporated by this reference. Section 2. Repeals all resolutions regarding hourly wages for part-time, seasonal and temporary employees in conflict with this resolution and Exhibit 1 attached hereto.
