Home My WebLink AboutCC Ord 1508 2003-10-27 ORDINANCE NUMBER I~ I AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A PRIMARY MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY ON TUESDAY, MARCH 2nd, 2004, CONSOLIDATED WITH THE STATEWIDE PRIMARY ELECTION ON SAID DATE, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS OF THE CITY AS AUTHORIZED AND REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH. WHEREAS, Pursuant to action of the State Legislature in 1998, the Statewide Primary Election is to be held on the first Tuesday in March in each even numbered year; and WHEREAS, In the year 2004 the Statewide Primary Election will be held on the 2nd day of March; and I , WHEREAS, Under the provisions of Section 501 of the Charter of the City of Seal Beach, California, a Primary Municipal Election shall be held on the last Tuesday of March in each even numbered year for the election of Municipal Officers, however by ordinance another day in the months of March or April of 'any even numbered year may be fixed. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: I Section 1. That pursuant to the requirements of the Charter of the City of Seal Beach, California, and the laws of the State of California relating to Charter cities, there is called and ordered to be held in the City of Seal Beach, County of Orange, State of California, on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2004, a primary Municipal Election for the purpose of electing one (1) member of the City Council from Councilmanic District Two for the full term of four years, one (1) member of the City Council from Councilmanic District Four for the full term of four years, and a City Clerk citywide for the 41,yfUll term of four years. -.'\ :. ....... 1{.\:"'\ ,.'; J'Ii'~ Section I~r;,;:. That the City Clerk is authorized, instructed and directed to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct the election. That the polls for the election shall be open at seven (7:00) o'clock a.m. of the day of the election and shall remain open con~inuously from that time until eight (8:00) o'clock p.m. of the same day when the polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 14401 of the Elections Code of the State of California. I That in all particulars not recited in this ordinance, the election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections. That notice of the time and place of holding the election is given and the City Clerk is aqthorized, instructed and directed to give further or additional notice of the election, in time, form and manner as required by law. Pursuant to Section 416 of the Charter of the City of Seal Beach, this ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption. I That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance, shall cause same to be published as required by law, and entered into the book of original ordinances.
