Home My WebLink AboutCC Ord 1374 1993-09-13 ORDINANCE NUMBER /31J AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA REGARDING ADJUSTMENT OF THE PER-BARREL TAXON Oil., GAS, PETROLEUM OR OTHER HYDROCARBON SUBSTANCE PRODUCTION AND AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH .1 THE CITY COUNCil. OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section I. The City Council, by its Ordinance No. 1152, amended Chapter 15A (Oil, Gas, Petroleum or Other Hydrocarbon Substance Production) of the Code of the City of Seal Beach to provide for an automatic adjustment of the "per-barrel tax" levied therein, Section 2. Pursuant to Ordinance No. 1152, the "per-barrel" tax is to be adjusted on July 1 of each year by the change in the "average producer prices" during the previous fiscal year. This Ordinance is intended to clarity which "average producer prices" are to be used by the Director of Administrative Services in determining the proper tax rate for each fiscal year. Section 3, The Code of the City of Seal Beach, California is hereby amended by amending the second and third sentences of Subsection 15A-l(a)(3) of Chapter 15A (Oil, Gas, Petroleum or Other Hydrocarbon Substance Production) to read as folIows: I "Such tax shall be adjusted annually on July 1 st of each year in accordance with the increase in the Producer Price Index during the previous fiscal year. For purposes of this Section, "Producer Price Index" means the producer price index for crude petroleum (domestic production), as prepared by the Bureau of Labor 3tatistics of the United States Department of Labor, or if such agency shalI cease to prepare such an index, then any comparable index covering thl' Los Angeles and Orange County areas prepared by any federal or state agency, which is approved by the City Council.
