Home My WebLink AboutCC Ord 1296 1990-01-08 I I I ORDINANCE NUMBER 1.?9~ AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH CALIFORNIA, AMENDING CHAPTER 1 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH. RELATING TO GENERAL PENALTIES THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Article 1. Chapter 1, section 1-8 of the Code of Seal Beach is amended to read: "Section 1-8. General Pena1tv: continuinq violations' Whenever in this Code or any other ordinance of the City, or in any rule or regulation promulgated pursuant thereto, an act is prohibited or is made or declared to be unlawful or an offense, or the doing of any act is required or the failure to do an act is declared to be unlawful or a misdemeanor, where no specific penalty is provided therefor, the violation of any such provision of this Code or any other ordinance of the city or rule or regulation shall be punished by a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000) or impriso~ment for a term not exceeding six (6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Whenever in this Code or in any other ordinance of the City or in any other rule or regulation promulgated pursuant thereto, any act is made or declared to be an infraction, or the doing of any act is required or the failure to do an act is declared to be an infraction, where no sp,=cific penalty is provided therefor, the vioiati~n of any such provision of this Code or any other ordinance of the city or rule or regulatLon declared to be an infraction shall be punishable by: (1) A fine not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100) for a first violation: (2) A fine not exceeding two hundred dollars ($200) for a second violation of the same ordinance wi thin one year. ( 3 ) A fine not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500) for each additional violation of the same ordinance within one year. Every day any violation of this Code or any other ordinance of the city continues shall constitute a separate offense. (Ord. No. 965, S1. ) 2. For state law ~uthorizing cities to impose fines not exceeding one thousand dOLlars ($1,000) and imprisonment for terms not exceeding six months; or both, for violations of ordinances, see Gov.
