Home My WebLink AboutCC Res 5139 2003-07-14 RESOLUTION NUMBER.!11itf A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH ESTABLISHING HOURLY WAGES FOR PART-TIME EMPLOYEES AND REPEALING ON THE EFFECTIVE DATES SPECIFIED, ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH WHEREAS, the Govemment Code of the State of California prescribes a procedure for resolving matters regarding wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment; and I Wl-IEREAS, part-time salaries have been updated to reflect current minimum wage regulations and to address the salary for a part-time water meter reader; and WHEREAS, if an employee is hired on a part-time basis to an existing classification, that employee shall be paid at the hourly equivalent of the assigned step within the assigned range for that Job classification. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Seal Beach to approve the salaries for all part-time employees attached as an Exhibit to the Resolution, effective July 15,2003. When the part-hme employment IS temporary, the rate of pay shall be the hourly equIvalent of Step "A" of the adopted salary range. Section 2. A $ 50 an hour "enhancement pay" shall be added to the assIgned rate of pay for Beach Lifeguards, Boat Crew, Boat Skipper and Area SuperVIsors who possess and mamtam current EMT certlficahon. Part-Time Wmter Crew Beach Llfel!Uards Exceedmg 1000 Hours Der Fiscal Year It IS In the CIty's best Interest to retam a small group of beach hfeguards that may exceed 1000 hours per fiscal year by workmg on the part-hme wmter crew. The follOWing benefits shall be added for these part-hme workers only as follows: a. Hohday Pay - Ehglble wmter crew hfeguards scheduled to work on Veteran's Day, ThanksglVlng Thursday and FrIday, ChrIStmaS Day, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Washmgton's BIrthday and MemorIal Day shall be paid $24.92 per hohday hour Hohday pay IS 10 heu of, and not 10 addlhon to, the hourly rate for part-time beach hfeguards I b.
